I would guess you could book a package now from the 2009 brochure, eg Virgin Holidays, but not a flight now eg Virgin Atlantic. Your Virgin Holidays package could just be a Fly-Drive if you want to book hotel separately.

    Froggitt,

Thanks but I have a villa booked for the period and just need the flight, it seems that most airlines will book only a year in advance. I am just nervous because I have a villa booked but no guarantee of getting there for the dates....

I assume that it is a financial thing for Virgin, they have the flights but want to get the extra income from the packages rather than flight alone.

Flydrives seem to be a year in advance as well.

You can still just book a fly drive......flight and car with no accomodation thru V Hols. You will have no prob getting the flight and seats of your choice if you book when the flights come on stream 12 months before your hol.

If worse comes to worse, try Virgin from Manchester if Gatwicks gone, or try the other airlines.

Don't stress - stop & think about it for a mo. Everyone else in your position won't be able to book flight only either - honestly, it's no big drama. Just wait 'til Sept 08 and book 'em. Or if you really wanna take the stress away do as others have said & book a fly-drive (flights & car only) now.

    Relax

    cheers ;)

Been looking into hiring a cabana at Aquatica. Its $175 for the day and that's on top of the entry price! Found a video that shows what you get for the extra money and decided its not worth it for us, here is a link to the video ( quite amusing as its an American Family giving a guided tour!) Might help someone else decide if its worth it or not.

I gues it depends on how long you're planning to be there and whether you plan to spend most of that time in the water or sitting/lying in the sun.

We went twice, both times we arrived for 9am opening but by the time we'd actually got parked, through the bag check into the park, got a locker (which they'd run out half an hour later) and stowed all our clothes, it was 10am and there were no sun loungers available. Lots of people were 'setting up camp' on the pathways, sitting on their towels because they were unable to get sun loungers/seats on the beach area.
This didn't bother us too much as if we're in a water park then we like to be in the water (Roa's Rapids was our favourite, we stayed in there for hours!), but if you're the sort who likes to lie in the sun and a sun lounger/chair is important to you, a cabana would be one way to guarantee a seat.

    Froggitt,

Thanks but I have a villa booked for the period and just need the flight.

Could be worth checking out anyway, I noticed on a couple of occasions that I've checked in the past that Virgin Holiday's flydrive price was been cheaper than Virgin Atlantic's price for a flight on the same dates.
Could have been a anomaly, but maybe worth having a look?

Working link for Sandford Airport transport...

I just went through them all and checked what I wanted and the costs and decided on Sam's Transportation, he was good and I would use again.

Not sure whether I am being a typical 'bloke' but Flydrives still only appear a year ahead and not the Aug 2009 that I am trying to book for.

No problems with waiting, just one of those guys that likes to have everything done now...apart from DIY of course:rotfl:

Going to florida this year with virgin(clubcard freebie)car included but cost of insurance £244 for fully inclusive, will this include waiver and will the rental company impose extra charges? also never been florida before so am very weary of driving over there whats it like?
    any replies very much apreciated.

Generally the speeds are lower and there is less traffic unless you are travelling at rush hour on the main highways like the I 4 or the Beeline.
We had our rental car from Dollar along with a free upgrade to a Dodge Durango a large SUV we also booked Sat Nav this time at $5 a day.
There are no extra charges and you go away with a full tank and bring it back empty our car was full of sand and absolutely filthy on the outside,on returning it they never even mentioned the state of it just checked it for dents and smiled and asked if we had a good time.
Sat Nav(Garmin) was useful most of the time especially for the on and off ramps on the highways as often they are close together and selecting the correct lane is hit and miss so the Sat Nav sorted that out.
But it was totally useless in downtown Orlando when trying to get to the Orlando Magic games as it didn't have real time updates and it was unaware of the road works currently going on and couldn't steer you around them just into them.
On a another subject we found that going to Aquatica in the afternoon about 1500hrs was the best time to avoid the rush you can stay until 1900hrs it was hot in the 85 deg so staying late wasn't a problem,we could see the rides from our hotel window and they were jam packed in the morning the cars were backed up from the car park out on to the I Drive (main road).
If you can get to the Sea World car park there is a free shuttle bus to Aquatica,or you can use the I Drive trolly buses as the stop right out side the entrance.Police patrols were there preventing jay walking across the I Drive on a couple of days.Oh yeah lockers were $11(large) it is about 40cm deep,20cm wide,35cm high, big enough to get three peoples shoes clothes bags etc in.
