Thinking of going to Florida for the October half-term, but I'm shocked by the flight prices. I can't seem to find a direct flight for anything less than £500 during that period, which I guess is somewhat understandable considering its half-term, but still, that's pretty chunky money.
Indirect flights are considerably cheaper, at about £300-350 return, and I'd be happy to go with that, but considering the trouble with the connecting flight a few years ago when we were going to San Francisco, the missus would flip if I told her I'd booked an indirect flight. It's non-stop or no holiday I'm afraid.
So, it seems booking a flight on its own for the October half-term is going to be impossible, I simply can't afford £500 x 4 for just flights only.
So, basically, I'm wondering do you think that there will be any resonably priced late availablity deals for October half-term coming up in the next few months, or is it not a place that really gets particularly discounted?
Do you think it will be possible to find either a flight on its own for £300-350 return from the UK direct, or flight+accomodation for around the £400 pp mark, or is this just wishful thinking?
Cheers for any further info/advice.
i too was going to suggest Travel City Direct to you aswell, we have just booked with them for 2010 at quite a reasonable price & their flights are with Virgin:Dmummy to 3 monsters!
trying to money save, but spot too many bargains on here!!0 -

Torrid?
(That's the name of the shop I think you mean rather than an insult of any description)

Hi all.
Can anyone help me please with info to book a hire car for Orlando? We land @ Sanford mid Aug 09 for 21 days. What is a good price for a vehicle for 4 people, say one above the smallest, to include ALL charges like LDW and CDW as I've heard it's cheaper to pay these on booking rather than once you get there, if they are indeed necessary in the first place.
Sorry to ask such an open question but I'm a little naive on this subject to say the least. Any help on the cheapest, safest and easiest way to do is gratefully appreciated.
Thank youDigger:dance:0 -
Has anyone stayed at the highlands reserve golf resort? I've seen a great deal for a villa there but not sure what the area is like.
Also, does anyone know if it wold be better to visit in June or Sept?
Many thanks0 -

Thank you
We used Auto-europe and picked up our car from Sanford very quickly an with no additional charges.
If you find the same car cheaper elsewhere they will beat the price. I think you are best checking the prices before you book and letting them know so they can get back to you with a better quote.0 -

Hi I'm writing a book and this is part of it so to summarise the differences are:
Riverside has 2000 guest rooms, FQ has about 1000 - so FQ is smaller. Prices are the same at between $149 and $219 per night. FQ includes a parking pass with free parking at the parks (not sure if Riverside offers this). At Riverside you can rent a paddleboat as it has a river through the resort. Facilities in rooms are pretty much identical. To be honest there's not much difference and you're always welcome to eat at another resort's restaurants.0 -

,
thanks giovanni been looking at the 2 resorts for ages and my ds is quite impressed with the pictures of the pool in the FQ other than that cant see too much difference, good luck with your book.
Thanks, enjoy your holiday! I personally would go for Riverside.
P.S. At riverside there are five pools in the resort, as well as a spa and a kid’s pool.
Don't forget to go in the second half of August if you can as it's cheaper and there's less people.0 -

Hi robsonru
I've stayed at both and here are my thoughts:
POFQ being a smaller resort is more intimate and most importantly you are never far from the central area (food court etc) because of this.
The buses stop first at POFQ for all routes to this parks except Downtown Disney. What this means is that when the resorts share a bus (which they often do) the people getting on at POFQ are likely to get a seat, those getting on at one of the four (?) stops at POR, less so.
There is a nice little dragon slide at POFQ which my 6 year old loved. The 9 year old found it a bit tame and preferred the slide at PORS, so depending on the children in your party this could be a factor. I would say the squirting water at PORS is better for slightly older children as it is more vicious than at POFQ.
Both have jacuzzi/spas and children's pools.
PORS has a nice "sit down" restaurant as well as a food court; POFQ just the food court.
POFQ sells beignets which are delicious deep fried yummy things covered in sugar. I don't think you can get these at PORS.
Both have similar sized shops selling similar goods, nice bar and pool bar areas, and the boat to DTD.
Room sizes are the same for both, but the theme differs.
Both are lovely resorts in a pretty good location for a Moderate.
If you still can't decide, just go with the theme that you prefer
