Lets all get back on task!!!
I want to visit the beach in florida. Which one do people recommend?
If you don't mind a 2 to 3 hour drive there are lovely (imho) beaches at Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples.
Tampa & Clearwater are nice too.
Or there's Daytona and Cocoa on the East coast although we haven't been to either of those for a lot of years so can't say what they are like these days0 -
cocoa is superb. there are drugstores on every corner. (nearly). walgreens are mostly 24hrs. I agree with the post about having a car- get one.0

Also if you book via virgin they always through in a car free - at least according to the website when i book.0

Hardly anythings free. Don't believe everything virgin tell you, they aren't the best but they do cost a lot more.
I've only been direct once and was NOT impressed at all.
Always book your car hire seperately.0 -

Clearwater is lovely and only a ninety minute drive from the main tourist areas in Orlando.
Sarasota is (IMHO) slightly nicer especially if you go down to Siesta Key which is absolutely wonderful. It's about forty minutes longer to reach than Clearwater.
I am not so keen on the beaches on the Atlantic side but they are slightly closer in travelling time.0 -
And then add ridiculous insurance charges onto it. And the car they offer is always snide.
(This is what i was saying about 90%.....)Hardly anythings free. Don't believe everything virgin tell you, they aren't the best but they do cost a lot more.

If you use tesco coupons they are a great deal IMHO - can't find cheaper prices anywhere and Virgin has great entertainment onboard and the convenience of the DTD checkin.0 -
Don't know about the tesco coupons but I do know that the cost of the insurance from Virgin meant that the car costs as much from them as it does from the companies who don't give you the 'free' car hire.
I have to say that I have not been offended by anything that Sturll has to say and generally get a good laugh from his posts. Anyone who has read back over the pages in this thread will realise that most of the more 'controversial' posts are intended in light hearted way to relieve the boredom of having to revisit the same information every time someone can't be bothered to read the thread or do a search. It's about time the people in this country stopped being so damned pathetic.0 -

Thank you.
That really does mean a lot.

Now - Where do i post this £20 again?0 -
Hate to bump but the thread got taken over just after I posted, can we get back on track pleaseJust looking at flights in November, and the cheapest I can find is £705 for two, flying economy from Manchester with US Air. As I have only just started looking, not sure if this is a good deal, would I be better waiting a bit, and do US Air have a good reputation?
Thanks0
