  • When in August?

If you can go after 22nd August then this is when all of the airlines drop their prices. It depends on when you need to get the kids back to school though. If you fly out on 22nd August and come back 5th August you might be able to get some reasonable flight prices?

    Hope this helps

    Jon.

    Flying in what, a tardis?

Flights and accomodation with Tesco clubcard points.

If you want flight only, you can always book the cheapest hotel through Virgin Hols and just not use it....

However, this has become a lot more pricey than it used to be.

I also have heard that you can no longer pay for the tax element with Deals (what's that...about £200 per head I think).

I'm about to book myself using all Deals so I will post again to let people know whether I get away with paying all in deals, or not (if anyone is interested).

We have used tesco deals towards last year's and this year's hols, saving ourselves well over £2k! :T.
Sadly unable to use them for next year's hol, but that will (hopefully!) give us two year's worth to use for 2011! :D

Sounds good - please do report back as I'd love to know what you need to pay now and how much.

Well I can give you a slight info on Tesco deals as our hol is mostly paid for by Mr T, we managed to save up enough to cover our flights/hotel only having to pay £137. If we'd had a car added to the package we would've had to pay for that and ins......we had an offer of 2 weeks flight and hotel for 1640/ 1500 paid for mr t but 2 weeks, hotel and car was 1900/ they would accept 1200 ish and I pay the balance. I opted for no car and maybe I'll hire 1 out there for a few days at considerably less than 700.

collecting points, beg....borrow and erm steal points

we collected for 2 years and have our holiday paid for.....we go on Thurs!

we colected via extra points by buying extra pointed products, extra pointed deliveries and maybe wombling. We collected approx 10,000 points per qtr, we shopped nowhere else for 2 years. All fuel, food, most clothes and all elec goods etc. Makeing the most of double points vouchers Mr T sends you in his mailings.
Its hard work, we also had most of our family using the same clubcard and had them linked to 1 a/c.

Just wondered if anyone knew the answer to the question I asked a couple of pages back, that got lost in the silly argument?

Will a US sim work in an unlocked phone, and if so where would I get one and approx how much do they cost? :)
Moving onto a better place...Ciao

Has anyone been to Madeira beach or St Johns pass in the gulf coast ?
I would be interested in hearing experiences good or bad from people who have visited there with places to visit or avoid ?

These two areas along the St Pete-Clearwater Beach coast are fairly quiet and residential; mainly high-rise condos, resorts and a few hotels. There are not a lot of out-and-out attractions (apart from the beach!), but the area is usually very safe and quite family-orientated. St John's Pass itself is a kind of eclectic 'village' of shops, restaurants and water-activities (fishing, sailing and the daily - rather hokey - Pirate Cruise). Part of it has been modernised in the last year or so, while other parts are still fairly authentic. Nice smattering of restaurants but nothing particularly startling. Head back to St Pete Beach just to the south and there is the Dolphin Landings dolphin-watch cruise several times a day - well worth trying. You can look up more on the tourist authority website www.floridasbeach.com.

If your phone is fully unlocked, you should certainly be able to use a US sim card. From a quick search, the following looks like a decent possibilities to get one:

    http://www.telestial.com/sim_bridge.php?ID=US

    http://www.travelsim.com/content/eng/42/56/

    http://www.0044.co.uk/america.htm

However, I'm NOT a mobile phone expert by any means (!), so I'd advise double-checking with your phone provider as well.
