I didn't mean to scare people with the parking price, its just an expense that needs to be remembered.

The car park fee I believe is for all disney parks so if you have a park hopper or a 2 week pass to any park then if you get bored you can leave, drive to another park and park for free.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong though.

Its well worth mentioning the fee as it can add it if you are at the parks a few times.

And yes its a once a day fee so if you want to hop you do not pay again

    Cheers

    Hi,

I have been looking around for a holiday to Disney over Christmas (24th dec - 3rd Jan) for myself and my family (2 adults and 2 children) and came across the website 'HoilidayGenie'. The website is quoting me £1,790 for all four of us, flights with BA and incl hotel for 10 nights (DAYS INN UNIVERSAL STUDIOS MAINGATE). This does not included the park tickets.

Is this a good deal? or could I do better, maybe incl tickets?

    Any help appreciated

Looks very cheap over christmas for 4 to be honest.

Christmas is basically disneys busiest season so I've been told so to get a price like that is very good.

Look at Ba's site, the price for the dates that you have stated for 2 adults and 2 children comes to £3,747.20 which is incredibly expensive. (I went with leaving from London). The cheapest on Kayak.co.uk is £457 per adult with Continental, the kids won't be quite this price but it will cost you a substantial amount and thats without the hotel.

Where do you want to go? There is loads to do, in terms of theme parks (I think thats what you are getting at) theres the 4 main disney parks, 2 universal, seaworld and busch gardens. You then have the relevant water parks related to them.

You really need to plan out how many days you want to go to each park for before you can look at tickets as sometimes the bulk tickets (ie. 14 days) may work out more expensive if you only plan on going a few times.

With seaworld you get buy one, get one day free. The same goes for busch but if you want you can get 14 day tickets for all the parks except disney on 1 ticket.

Again the same is needed for the disney tickets.

No one in their right mind who can drive would go to Orlando without a car.

Ye Gods I agree with Sturll!! That's a first, but would perhaps not put it quite so succinctly

To be honest if I spend a couple of thousand on a holiday I will not worry about car park fees. And the thought of going from DTD to the parks:eek:. Disney Transport,On them wooden seats [plastic?]that Disney so loves thanks but no thanks. Time is the most expensive commodity on a holiday to Florida. It really is not all about the parks!!! We have found lots of interesting things away from the parks. But then we used to go for a month to 6 weeks at a time. And still there was not enough time!

Thanks, we are going for two weeks and don't have any kids. I've been to Eurodisney a few times so wasn't going to bother with disney. But if there is something that people should think we should see then we would go as this will be our last holiday for a while.

I did and I'm sure that plenty of others do. Perhaps for you it doesn't work, but the bus from the hotel went at the right times for us and we didn't have any urge to stay at the parks later than the buses left.

At £300 plus parking at the parks it's an expense that we can spare.

This has been absolutely done to death.

With a car you get more from your day and your holiday. You can stroll out of say Magic Kingdom and be at Typhoon Lagoon in minutes.
You can leave things in the car, go where you want when you want.
Visit Clearwater, Tampa, Kennedy Space Centre all within an hour or so.

Drive to Miami, the everglades, Keys - all of which completely unrealistic without a car.

Get the bus and you are only going where the bus is going when the bus is scheduled. Travel takes much longer in the intense heat and crowded buses.

Fact remains if you pay say £3k to go to Orlando you are massively limiting your holiday without a car.

Ive had a look at various sites for universal tickets and it seems that the online universal direct site itself is the cheapest unless anyone knows another one.

    http://www.universalorlando.com/tickets.html

I was looking at the 2 day 2 park tickets which are the same price as the unlimited use 1 week ticket.

They are both valid for 1 week from day of first use.
Unless Im wrong it seems that the full week unlimited is the best offer unless im missing something.

    Any thoughts ?

I really would reccomend going to disney. Disneyland paris is great, but there is so much more to do in florida that isn't in Paris. Even if you were to get a 3 day ticket to hop between the 4 main parks and do the bits that aren't in Paris. Albeit, I'm a massive disney/themepark fan, I could never go to florida and not do disney.

Main bits that are highly reccomended and not in Paris include:-

    EPCOT
almost the whole park is unique except for honey i shrunk the audience.

    Animal Kingdom
    EVERYTHING!!

    Magic Kingdom
mickeys philharmagic - excellent 4d cinema show at magic kingdom
    Stitch encounter
    Monster inc laugh floor

    Hollywood Studios
    Toy story Mainia
Fantasmic - ultimate nighttime show and unmissable

Well, this site is for everyone and not everyone has the time to read through every post. As I said, the Florida post is vast and there are lots of possible topics (as can been seen by reading through it). However, when threads become vast and varied it can become hard to properly assess the ones that prevalent to you i.e. in this case it's attraction tickets. Hopefully other than this post by me, other money savers will post their comments here which are specific and concise so that it can act a quick reference for those who need it.

As someone who has posted many times on the current sticky thread I don't have time to repeat my posts elsewhere for those people who don't have time to read them. :D
