I'm curious now - why do you have a visa? ;)

:j98 days to go:j(not that I'm counting or anything... )

For a few reasons really but mainly for work. I have a couple of people in my team based in Chicago so i go over (or used to before the world exploded and money dissappeared) a lot and so I needed a Visa. It allows me to stay for six months to work or play which is lovely, but I would miss the kids

birnbaums offical disney walt disney world guide book is very good, its aimed at the american visitor, but its a great book, lots on info, maps, tips, and big pictures!
the brits guide is also very good, as this covers orlando not just disney parks.

Having read all of them mentioned I would still always reconmentd the one not mentioned which is the Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World. For a few reasons....

    - i know the co author Len Testa quite well and he is a real star
    - it uses real research and fact rather than option and hot air
    - you get free access to https://www.touringplans.com which has awesome touring plans that if followed will mean you will never wait more than 8 mins for a ride!
    - it is so detailed (which I love).

I do also like the Brits guide as it covers ALL of Orlando and not jsut disney

    Cheers

you can take your tickets to guest services and buy no expiration option if you need it. The unofficial guide (highly recommended) says that most people don't end up using the unexpired tickets so think before you spend the money.
We are currently in Florida looking at using the no expiry option as 1 of my 4 children has measles and we are in quarantine waiting to see if the other 3 will get ill... looks like our 2 week holiday will last about a month. we hope to take them to the parks 1 at a time as they become non infectious.

please make sure you have good travel insurance, we are with tesco and so far they have been good though we have had to pay some things upfront and they should reimburse.
This was a longed bfor holiday and I never imagined I would find myself and my son in an ER and then admitted to an ICU 30 miles from the rest of the family at a cost of $1000's. I must have filled out about 10 forms for insurance, its such a different system here.
I hope no one has to use it but make sure you have it anyway.

    Be VERY careful here guys

Remember you can ONLY upgrade a base ticket or a magic your way ticket. you can NOT upgrade teh Disney ultimate ticket to no expiry.

    Hi there,

Please can anyone advise where to buy no expiry disney tix please?

    Thanks

    SFG x

How many days do you want one for?

Each additional day of non expiry will cost about 50 bucks for that option per day.

Take a look at disneyworld.com and also https://www.touringplans.com who have a least expensive ticket checker on it

if you are planning a return within 12 months its sometimes cheaper to go annual pass as you get discounts on food etc and free parking as well

    Hi,

I need help from someone who has recently been to Florida, stayed at Disney and flown with Virgin.

We are going in September and I was reading somewhere that you have to reserve the Magical Express service, do you?
And if so, how do I reserve it?

    Thanks

You need to reserve it yes. You can do this either via Virgin or Disney themselves but it will be easier to phone Virgin as they may not have passed your booking through to Disney yet.

I'll look into that, thanks pinkzebra :) I think the kids should be fine, they need booster seats because of the rules over here that mean they need them until 13 (much to my son's disgust lol). But I've been told there are no such rules over there.

If over 5 you can use s eat belt but the way the yanks drive, I still put both mine in a suit or armour

Would be interested to hear if they are still asking for the green forms - we did our ESTAs but still had to fill in the green form on the plane, and that was on 27 March!

yes they were last week (not me but a buddy) and I was told it will be like that for at least 6 months at least.

Just to clear up on DTD Check In for Virgin

    Its free if you
    - have a Virgin Flying Club Gold card; or
    - booked via Virgin Holidays

Otherwise its $10 per person NOT per bag.

Opens from 8:15 am Bags and weighed and tagged and boarding cards issued

Does that also include just flights if you booked through Virgin Hols or purely packages?

For what its worth, here is my experience with the new ESTA.
In April we went to orlando but the airline wouldnt let my DD fly as I unknowingly needed a visa for her - she shared her dads passport (not a british one) even though the ESTA was authourised for her to travel on that passport.
So my DH had to stay behind and get her a passport of her own which took 3 days due to the bank holiday.
Anyway, she arrived safely but we then realised she had travelled without a new ESTA ( the authorised one was for the passport she shared with her dad) so really she needed a new one for her new passport. They had to fill out the green form on the plane so I guess its still very early days with the new ESTA.

I find this interesting CJD, I have driven the last couple of times we've been and have always found it a far more enjoyable experience than driving in the UK - there seems to be less speeding, less tailgating and there is a lot more room on the road.

Having said that I have always been on holiday when I was there so I was probably a lot more relaxed when driving.

As for signposting in Florida though
