For our holiday in February, I booked the flight tickets in October, and found it was the cheapest time to buy (give or take a few pounds).

Looking at the same ticket price for the same time next year, it's £50 more (4 of us are going, so that's an extra £200)

Does anyone know if prices are higher for any reason other than them making money from people booking so far in advance? i.e. am I likely to get the same reductions in October ?

For info this is all through Virgin Atlantic.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

can you take your own sandwiches etc on the flight my kids are fussy eaters and probably won't touch the inflight meal.

You can take food through security and onto the plane (just not liquids) but has to be consumed/binned before you get off as there are restrictions on what foodstuffs you can import into the states.

Thought I would make a comment on a few things I have read.

A few people have said they didnt like SeaWorld. We thought it was excellent and went back again to see the Shamu show in the evening (having seen it the week before in the day). It was nearly cancelled due to the weather but eventually went ahead. We will be going again this year.
As for my comment about not liking Busch Gardens. Maybe we just picked a bad day. All the rides we went on were excellent, but there were a lot that my kids didnt want to go on as they were a bit too scary (in size) for my kids. Also the queues were just horrendous. When we arrived early in the morning it wasnt that bad, but as the day progressed we found ourselves spending most of the time queueing.

I read a few things about Mission Space also. We loved it as you all get different roles. We did the easy one and then the hard one. My Mum declined the hard one, but she is in her 60s. she said the other one made her feel sick anyway.

Finally, somebody asks about keeping young ones occupied on the flight. We flew with Airtours last time and didnt have a problem. By the time you have got going and settled down an hour will have passed. they then have films on which will kill another 90mins at least. Before you know it lunch is coming around and then drinks. All of which takes another hour or so. A bit of play on the DS. A read of a comic and before you know it you are nearly landing.

14 weeks on Sunday until we go again!! Cant wait.

I'm an adult and I found most of the rides scary at Busch Gardens. I think the rides there are more "serious" than at either Universal or Disney (with the odd exceptions). When did you go? We went the week before Easter and didn't find queuing too bad - although we did spend more time looking at the animals than we did going on rides.
  • I am looking into booking a holiday now for 2010, i was looking to go with my disbabled husband and he is not keen on large crowds (i know probably not going to be his best holiday) going with our five year old and a carer, i was wondering what time of the year would be the quietist to go. not really bothered about the weather, no hurricanes would be a bonus, lol.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for all the opinion's good and not so good regarding Seaworld certainly got me thinking.

I haven't got my currency yet and wondered if the clever people on here can recommend where the best place to exchange cash, ie Post Office, Travel Agent, or Bank to get best rate / no commission etc.

Does experience suggest travel cheques or cash or a mix?
    All advice is gratefully appreciated.

I would suggest you go the second week in January or if your happy to wait October.

The parks are empty and the weather is still great without the rain.

Just had a quick look at the Crowd Calendar on www.touringplans.com and they seem to think that Sep & October will be pretty quiet this year, so i would guess it will be the same next year, depending on holidays. (they were pretty accurate for our trip in April).

It is a subscription site, but if you buy the Unofficial Guide to Disney, you get a free subscription for a year (which is what I got). I found the book pretty good, but it is very indepth (800 pages or something)
