    Out of interest, how did Space Mountain differ to the one in Paris?
    13 weeks till we go (for the 1st time) and my husband is bricking it about the coasters. Not been a huge fan of them myself but Im determined to experience as much of the parks as I possibly can:D
    the paris one, being newer, is much smoother, and has some light effects inside, plus your launched outside the mountain and then go in,
    the florida one is older , a great ride, but totally black inside, (and being 6 foot 4 quiet scary as those rails feels really close to your head!), its quiet a jolty ride and can be bumpy and alittle uncomfortable.the ride doesnt go upside down and only goes i think about 28 miles an hour, but feels a lot faster as its very dark!.
    this was before the refurb though, as it hasnt been announce what they are doing inside space mountain, we can only hope its being turned into the paris one!
    none of the disney coasters are scary to the extreme, disney rides are all about themeing and fun for all, unlike unversal which is to scare the *&^% out of you!have fun. im off in 4 weeks time and cant wait.

    Teallach, if that's what you think stay away from Mission Space ! ! ! It took me 45 minutes to even stand up afterwards !

    Or just do the non-spinning version - we loved that!

    I have got the HRH before for $189 per night, and that included a week's park admission for two of us (I think the promotion was called something like Stay for Four, Play for Free). The RPR was slightly cheaper.

    I seem to remember recently there was some error with a booking system which allowed people to book Universal hotels for literally peanuts, but I wasn't quick enough to take advantage!

    Wow, where and how did you manage to get a room for $189 at the Hard rock?

    I'm not a fan of coasters - the only 2 I did in 2 weeks in Florida were Cheetah Chase (kids ride) at Busch Gardens, and Space Mountain. If I can go on Space Mountain, anyone can (I hate the big drops, it has no big drops and no loops)

    Well I've been on the Paris Space Mountain twice before so maybe I'm slightly more prepared for these rides than I thought even if it is shut in WDW. Last time we were in Paris, my husband went on Rock n' Rollercoaster with us......not sure if I would say he liked it but hopefully between his daughter and I, we'll get him on a few more:D

    I will keep a look out for a cheap universal hotel so any tips on where to look for the deals please Karen would be great.

    I've always booked direct with Universal - I've got the prices quoted before for the last week of our summer holidays (last week of August).

    Enjoy Animal Kingdom (and Everest ;) )

    Sorry, the abbreviations were:
    TTA = Tomorrowland Transit Authority - ride in MK
    HRH = Hard Rock Hotel (onsite Universal hotel)
    RPR = Royal Pacific Resort (onsite Universal hote)
    DDs = daughters
    IIRC = If I remember correctly
    DH = husband

    Lynneth got the rest!

    Hi Bobby

    Last week August 06 & 07. We booked about six weeks before we stayed direct with Universal.

    Hi Bob

    Siesta Key is very close to Sarasota (15 mins drive south maybe) and is a barrier island, and possibly the nicest beach I've ever seen. The main beach (which I think is called Crescent Beach) is award winning, though in fairness I think there are a few in Florida that can say that.

    What I like about Siesta Key is that it has a lovely chilled out resort feel with many bars and restaurants all within a short walk. If you fancy some culture / sightseeing or shopping Sarasota is close by (by car).

    I far preferred Siesta Key to Sarasota.

    Hi all. At present in a villa on the I27.very nice weather lovely,Firstly some sad news Seaworld no longer has the hospitality suite its now called the Terrace and no longer gives away free beer.The Manta looks quite awesome. Running today but only empty hoping for some 'soft' rides but not yet. Opening on the 20 May.
    Sometime back someone posted about a night time feast of some sort at the Polynesian resort. I am sure i never dreamt it, can someone come up with the details thanks.
    Had a couple off meals at the golden corral really has improved from last year.
    Thats it for now.:beer:
