good luck!
By the way, there is no longer a ten day 'allowance'. They changed it to 'the headteacher, at their discretion, may allow up to 10 days'.
This was on the letter the local schools sent out:Parents taking their children on a family holiday in term time will have to make an application but you need to be aware that these absences will rarely be authorised. There is no longer the allowance of 10 days per academic year. The absence resulting from parents wilfully removing their children from school for a family holiday without the consent of the school will be recorded as ‘unauthorised.’
Parents do not have the right or entitlement to take their child out of school for a holiday. If your holiday request is not granted and you still take your child out of school for a holiday the Local Authority may issue a ‘penalty notice.’ A penalty notice is a fine for each parent of each child.

Hi Chocolateteddy,
you can do it alot cheaper booking it yourself (depending on what you want and were your going from)
Go to www.netflights.com for you dates you can go from heathrow for £278 per person, admittedly with a change in Detroit - only an hour stop over though.
Car hire from netflights again - £249 all inclusive for an intermediate sized car for the two weeks.
Accomadation in a 3 bed townhouse - www.florida-villa-townhouse.com
great location only 10 mins from Disney, we have stayed there and the facilitys are great!!! 2 weeks for £700 .
flights - £1390
car - £249
Accom -£700
Total - £2339
There you have it, a saving of over £600 - this could towards the price of the park tickets, meals etc...
Hope this helps.
Forgot to add - you can get parking for the 2 weeks at Heathrow for £35 go to www.purpleparking.com and use the code TIPO in the source code box.0 -

Our school has always given holidays when asked (there's a form to fill in for the county council), they just state that going during term time for a cheaper holiday is not accepted. So most people I know put that it's the only time the employer will allow them time off.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

We allowed $180 per day for 4 of us. That was in the days of $1.91 to the pound mind
ym
No offence but $180 a day is $180 a day regardless of how the pound is
Now if you said £94.24 a day at $1.91 to the pound that sheds different light on it as currently at $1.40 to the pound the $180 would cost £128.57.
Not that im splitting hairs or that :rotfl:0 -

Hi - I'm going to POFQ in August - I know it will be hot but any info on rain patterns/timing etc would be appreciated. More importantly....
I get bitten badly in the UK and bites swell so.... What are the bugs like at this time of year and do you have any recommendations re 'sensitive' anti insect stuff as I'm allergic to fragrance.
Thanks
Can only speak for the one time we went but it was very hot and humid with a huge downpour for about 15 minutes at around 4pm each day. After it stopped raining though the skies cleared and it dried up really quickly with the hot sun. We're going again this August though so it hasn't put us off at all.
School holidays - all schools have the option to fine £100. It is up to the Head Teacher to decide whether to enforce it. Our Head will allow ten days as authorised absence as she knows holidays are an experience in themselves and also that the cost of holidays outside of termtime is ridiculous. It's costing us nearly £2000 more to go in August than September but as a teacher I have no choice. Even if the £100 is enforced it still often works out cheaper for parents to holiday during school time.0 -
Anyone used Orlando Ticket Deals?
Looking for Disney tickets they have tickets for 14 days, adult £234and child £199. The are also giving you a Kids Eat Free ticket free with each kids ticket. Has anyone used this company? Has anyone used these kids eat free tickets? We also have a 10 year old who would need an adult ticket so we wouldnt get the kids eat free for her, but does anyone know if you have to have 1 paying adult to 1 child? (we are 2 adults, 3 children).
