  • Hi, i'm off to orlando for the first time in april with my daughter (7) and am getting thoroughly confused about which tickets to buy. There's only the two of us and I wont be driving (we're staying at sheraton safari in lake buena vista) I have bought the 14 day ultimate disney tix but am regretting that now as I realise we wont be spending the entire holiday at disney.

Could anybody offer advice as to which other ones would be good and cheap for us to buy, we would like to do as much as we can but im worried about getting there and all of our spending money being taken up by other tickets because I didnt know what I was doing!! LOL

    Any help is appreciated

    many thanks
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D

Since you're not driving you have the best ticket probably. Not only that but to be fair the 14 day ticket is only marginally more expensive than the 7 day.

I go each year alone with 2 kids (4&7) and we love it. (although i do drive)

    In terms of other parks....

    IMO

Seaworld is gash. A complete waste of space, time and money. Universal for me and mine is better than Disney (particularly IOA)
So if you can, just get tickets for Universal when you are there. Id have thought that without a car you'll be fairly limited anyway.

Make the most of the waterparks though (disney) highlight of my hol each year!

As a single parent with 2 young kids i realise that there is no aggro to driving in the US - in fact its easier than over here in the UK.

I got me a Tom Tom and have never been lost and ensure that i can go wherever we want when we want to at minimal hassle and minimal cost.

i like to sometimes have a small drink when on holiday though and be free to do that and relax.

are you female and feel safe on your own?

most places i want to go to anyway are accessible by public transport or via tour companies.

    thanks for that Karen:T
we are looking at maybe port orleans (river boat to downtown disney looks good) caribbean beach (beach sounds good) or coronado springs (mexican food sounds yummy) ie cant afford luxury but pop and all stars look very child orientated for two adults. Does this sound sensible? sept/oct/nov 09. Dining plan would save us shopping and cooking which we have done prevously but now would just like to go to parks and if we want to chill be able to do so by "nipping back to hotel " or relaxing over food. We visited last in the febuary they had "el nino" and tornados, the temperature in england was better than in florida for a few days but we still had fun mainly because the queues were so short! Any more tips would be gratefully received.
    many thanks

There is a massive list of what a "snack" constitutes- you'll know what they are when you're in WDW as they are stickered accordingly, but off the top of my head one snack credit would get you one of the following:

    Bottle of water
    Piece of fruit
    Cake / Bakery item
    Bag of Chips (crisps)
    Ice cream
Mickey Mouse Crispie Bar (my favourite ;) )

    etc etc

Loads of info here on anything and everything you could want to ask about the Dining Plan. http://allears.net/pl/packages08a.htm

And yes, you can carry forward any snacks / meals to a different day - they only expire at midnight on the day you check out, so any not used then would be wasted (tip: spare snacks could be used to take home sweet treats as presents :) )

ETA (Just because I'm nosey ;) ) which WDW hotel are you planning to stay at?
  • hi, thanks for the replies. In what way will I be limited ? Is the public transport not very good ? I thought we could use the free bus service to the disney parks and then get a bus to anywhere else - am i being daft ?

i dont really want to drive while im there as I would be quite worried but if it is really going toimpact on the holiday then I will hire a car - i dont mind spending a bit longer on the journeys by using a bus but I dont want to stuck either.

How far away is BV from the parks ? am i making a massive mistake ?
