• Hi I am looking to travel to Orlando next October and found some good deals on roomsnet.com
Has anyone had any dealings with them and are they reliable. Lake Buena Vista Resort and spa is cheaper than the hotels own website

Many thanks

Hi Mel

I have not heard of them but what I would suggest is benchmark this low price against hotels.com. If its still as good then I would email or even call the hotel (calls to the usa use https://www.1899.com etc) and ask them to match it!

Hi Paul

No worries at all.

Yes Thanksgiving is the 19th (its a Thursday) and normally the third Thursday of November. The days running up to it are not to bad but that day will be busy in the parks adn Friday is known as "black Friday" its the biggest shopping day of the year - loads of sales.

Ckearwater I really like but then I go only for a few days and the kids love the beach. But its only 1ht 40 mins from Orlando so its not bad as a day trip at all.

500 quid a week is pretty good for a hotel budget. In the US you pay per room not per person so that allows what 750 bucks about 100 bucks a night?

I would drop Annette at Mouse Fan Travel an email re the Disney hotels. She can get you a great quote for the first week at least.

Lake Buena vista is a lovely area in my opinion but its still pretty near Disney. If you want to do parks and shopping and sunbathing etc then stay around Orlando or maybe Tampa as you have Buscj Gardens etc.

I just did a search on Marriott.com for your second week inc thanksgiving and this otel came in at 119 bucks a night - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/mcorl-residence-inn-orlando-lake-buena-vista/

There were some for 99 bucks also ad these are good 3-4 star hotels. Other chains may well be cheaper and check out hotels.com also.

Have fun searching around!!

Cheers again Craig. Have you got 'Annette's' email address? Is 'mouse club travel' an official disney hotels booking agent or something?

That Marriot hotel seems nice, no pool though!

I'll have a good search around anyway mate!

Hi disney_cjd and all other posters,

Please forgive me for posting a reply to this particular post but I need to ask some questions and I wasnt sure how to post it in this disney forum and I know you respond to loads of questions so I figure its a good place to start.

In case you haven't guessed I'm a newbie poster on the site although I have been lurking and enjoying reading the posts for a while.

I intend to visit Orlando in December 09 with my husband and two children by then aged 7 and 2. My 2 siblings, their partners and 2 children each (aged 8 and 6) will be travelling with us.

The trip is planned for anytime after the 12th of December for between 10 and 14 days (preferably 10 as hubby is self-employed so doesn't like to be away for too long). We definitely want to spend Xmas there.

I would like to know what would be the most cost effective way to book this trip.
We would probably look to get a 6 bed villa in Kissimee as we have done villas on previous visits and the quality is quite high. It has been a while since our last trip to Florida though as the children have never been so we need some advice.

Would it be better to look out for offers for packages from the big operators (what month do such offers typically get published? and would we get a discount for booking a holiday for 12?) or get flights/accomodation/park tickets separately.
When would be the best time to book a Dec holiday?
We are open to the idea of spending half our holiday on a Disney resort and the other half in a Villa.
We are on a strict budget though so want the best possible deal hence my asking the money saving stalwarts.
I apologise for the length of this post but any advise would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi and welcome

I am sure many will be able to offer you some help and advice on this one. For me I have always (even before I owned a place there) called hotels and airlines separately - I am sure I always got a better price than using a service wrap from an Agent. BUT in these current times I bet you the agents are just as competitive and the good ones like Premier or Charter Travel who have posted on here are very good.

There was a recent poster who owned a rental villa that charged about 475 a week i think. It was not in a bad position either. Thats a very compettive price and I remember they charged no more for Chrimbo which is a peak period.

As for flights, it would be cheaper to try someone like Delta and go via Atlanta but thats a hassle. so go to https://www.virginatlantic.com or https://www.ba.com and play around with some dates. They both give you some flexability in a results matrix. Also, when looking at flights on ba.com dont always do LGW to MCO (MCO being Orlando airport) try also TPA which is tampa. Yes its an extra 30 mins drive away but the airport is less busy, flights on time and its normally a lot cheaper.

For example in Oct half term we paid about 1400 quid for four of us to Fly via Tampa. It was 1900 to go into Orlando.

and as for best time to book. Well I would say now if you can. The VAT rate has dropped, I have seen flights drop in prices for April already (damm) and I am sure people are gagging for business. But please if you can use a credit card to book it. I know they sometimes charge a fee but the insurance of s75 of the Consumer credit act is well worth it.

And if you book via the Virgin website and have a quidco account you can get 1 percent cashback

Cheers

Hi Paul

The web site is http://www.mousefantravel.com/mft/index.php I was emailing her yesterday actually as I am after a Disney hotel for a couple of nights in the summer for our 10th anniversary.

Her email is annette@mei-travel.com

Good luck. I would say have a look at https://www.marriott.com as there are lots of hotels there. Any in LBV are are nice. There is a hierarchy of styles though. Probably goes fairfield inn as the cheapest then springfield, resisdence, courtyard etc

Thanks Craig for the very prompt response,

I will try playing around on the BA and Virgin websites as suggested with my dates and Florida/UK airport and see what I get.

Regarding the villa, I will try to get addresses of ones we are interested in and if you dont mind telling me if its close to or far from the parks I'll be much obliged.
