Sadly just seen that Cypress gardens has closed for the winter.
One of my favourite relaxing days!.
Reopening in March but with no rides and no mention of concerts which I do find very sad. Over the last few years have seen the Beach Boys, The Eagles and Leanne Rhymes.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

Basically all of the fun rides are going. Even starliner which we all love,. The waterpark is being made much bigger and the gardens are staying as well. The stunt show stays, no decision on concerts yet.
We are annual pass holders and i have championed this park to many for years. It really was a florida gem.
Its such a shame the rides are going for kids like mine (6 adn 4) it was their favourite park, they even preferred it to the Magiv kIngdom
Sign of the times I am afraid. But very sad

Hi We're off to Florida 4 weks tomorrow yipee can't wait!
When we're there I woul like to go to a craft/scrapbook/cardmaking shop does anyone by any chance know of on (or more!) in the orlando area?? Has anyone used one??
Many thanks
It's not my thing so not a personal recommendation, but I beleive "Michael's" is the place to go, several branches in Orlando.
There is also loads of scrapbooking stuff (Disney obviously) all over the Disney themeparks - lovely stuff but not cheap!

not a bad price at all considering what they charge other times of the year.
You do not really mention budgets so I will assume a decent budget and a closer one.
WHAT IS WOULD SAY AND SORRY FOR SHOUTING BUT ITS IMPORTANT IS THE 19th WILL EB THANKSGIVING. You will probably not want to be at the partks that week, it will be very busy.
Also you do not say whether you are wanting to stay around Orlando or maybe pop over to Clearwater or Tampa maybe? Its only an hour and 40 mins away but totally different side of Florida.
So for the week at the parks. I would, if you can afford it, go a Disney hotel. The cheaper ones (and the best value one I have stayed in ) is the PoP Century. If you can afford a little better then try a moderate and I would go fot eh Port Orelans Riverside. At that time of year and if you are not going in thanksgiving week then I woudl call teh hotels directly. If you want a cheap way to call the USA for a penny a min google cherry call USA or go to www.1899.com.
The Pop Century is 001 407 939 7639. The Port Orleans is 001 (407) 934-6000
If you want somewhere other than Disney for the parks week i would suggest somewher in the Lake Buena Vista area. The Marriotts at little Lake Byran are great as is the Comfort Inn LBV. All of these you can get from palces like Hotels.com. I would not really reconmend the International drive area but if thats somewhere you liek then the Floridays is probably the best that way.
As for the non parks week A really nice hotel in Orlando (with the BNEST pool) is the MArriott World Center. Again all depends on price. If you got to Clearwater then the Hiolton on teh Beach is nice.
As for price for the non thanksgiving weeks you could get Disney value rooms for aroun 70 dollars night. Also try Annette at MouseFan Travel. They are really good and an American travel agent but will help you if you do not want to call teh US.
Let me know if this along the right lines for you.
Cheers
Craig
Cheers Craig, great bit of info!
Now our flights are sorted I dont really want to spend more than about £400-500 for each week (thats for the both of us) is that a fairly decent budget then, £250 per person per week?
Ooops, so Thanksgiving is on the Friday 19th Nov, but the americans have all that week off? If that's the ase then we'll probably just go around the parks mostly in the first week!
The second week Im not too sure where we should stay really, I have heard mixed reviews about clearwater so a bit dubious about staying there? I may have to google 'clearwater' and see what I think to it! I might just have 1 week at a disney hotel and then another week at somewhere like the lake buena vista as you mentioned. Is that a nice enough place then? So many places to choose from!0 -

Hi Paul
No worries at all.
Yes Thanksgiving is the 19th (its a Thursday) and normally the third Thursday of November. The days running up to it are not to bad but that day will be busy in the parks adn Friday is known as "black Friday" its the biggest shopping day of the year - loads of sales.
Ckearwater I really like but then I go only for a few days and the kids love the beach. But its only 1ht 40 mins from Orlando so its not bad as a day trip at all.
500 quid a week is pretty good for a hotel budget. In the US you pay per room not per person so that allows what 750 bucks about 100 bucks a night?
I would drop Annette at Mouse Fan Travel an email re the Disney hotels. She can get you a great quote for the first week at least.
Lake Buena vista is a lovely area in my opinion but its still pretty near Disney. If you want to do parks and shopping and sunbathing etc then stay around Orlando or maybe Tampa as you have Buscj Gardens etc.
I just did a search on Marriott.com for your second week inc thanksgiving and this otel came in at 119 bucks a night - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/mcorl-residence-inn-orlando-lake-buena-vista/
There were some for 99 bucks also ad these are good 3-4 star hotels. Other chains may well be cheaper and check out hotels.com also.
Have fun searching around!!Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Normally highs of mid 80s, with lows of 70s; very pleasant, not too hot, nice in the evening, and queues very small at all of the parks, as it is out of the school holiday season.Andy Corbett0 -
I used to work at Disney and I recall that October was one of the quietest periods to visit the parks, as mentioned the temperatures are still pretty good too0
