Hi all, I wonder if you can offer some advice for a first time visitor to Florida? We are off to Orlando in March 08 (2 adults) for 1 week and plan on going to Sea World and Gatorland.

Does anyone have any other advice on places to go (not theme parky ie Disney etc) that won't cost an arm and a leg?

We will be staying just off I.Drive and will not have a car so easily accessible please!!

    Thanks guys!
Hi we went four yrs ago and thought Epcot which is half about technology (nothing too geeky) and half about countries from around the world was awesome the fireworks alone are difficult to describe how good they are. We are not ride people so didn't do the magic kingdom thing although have been told several times by many people that we should have also we have been told by friends that animal kingdom is great too
what i will say is don't discount Disney as they really know how to do parks
Received £4541 reclaimed from Natwest :j:T

I used this site http://www.bestbookprice.co.uk/ to find it. Waterstones were showing at £7.49 with delivery to your local branch, but they are sending mine to my house for the same price:confused::j

    Hope this helps you.

P.S. Just checked again & the price is now £10.49. Looks like I got in at the right time!
Going down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T

You can't get them in the UK, unfortunately. You can buy them at practically any shop in Walt Disney World - you used to also be able to buy them in US Disney Stores but I don't know if you can anymore (as they aren't owned or run by Disney any more).

If you were getting them for children, why not just get them regular dollars, or print off some pretend Disney dollars (Disney picture with a number on it) and promise to use that as cash when you're there (ie you buy the item yourself and the child surrenders their fake dollar)

the way things are heading you will get more for your fake dollars than real ones by the time you get there as well :rotfl:

Got back last week from Florida. Had a great time and cant wait toget back... weather was poor but you cant legislate for a tropical storm in the atlantic throwing a cloud over the whole of florida..... for a week.
We spent 3 nights in Orlando. Stayed at a HoJo at $45 per night B&B for the 3 of us....... dirt cheap. Place needed a lick of paint but was clean, tidy and air conned. Good area too.
Epcot..... Iwould not bother if you like rides. Two good rides in Soar and the space lift off simulator but apart from that was ok but not brill. Fireworks at the end where great tho.
Universal islands of adventure. Fan bloomin tastic. Beware it closes at 5 or 6 pm. We didnt get there til half 11 so opted for the fast pass for £10 each. Best thing we ever did...... no whinging kids in queues etc. Hulk, dualling dragons and the water rides are brill. Entertainment around every corner. Loved it.
Then down to Sarasota for a few days and Busch Gardens, again Fantastic park. Sheikra is THE ride in my opinion. Great rush when on the first time. Cant remember the names of the other rides but all fab. the old wooden one is a real bumpy ride... but fun.

Then down to Fort myers for a beachy chill out and hit the outles!
flew Delta for the first time. Great service at every point of the journey.

Looking at the spring now to re visit......
I save so I can spend.

For anyone wanting to fly directly into Orlando International, I recall Virgin had a seat sale that began on Dec 26th last year.
Been looking for early next year myself and they're the cheapest at the mo, it's cheaper still if you book your car hire seperately with another company.
It appears that it's cheaper to book the car hire through the British .co.uk web sites than the American .com sites

    I love that word........cheaper :D
