here is a hidden tip for you all.... :) This is a local secret so I may well get beaten to a pulp for telling y'all - anyway you all seem nice so here is....

For all of you with cars and staying near the US192 and US27 then please please please check out this restaurant. Mannys Chop House

    http://www.mannyschophouse.com/

Now I know people like Sizzler etc but this place really will mean you will not step foot in a Sizzler or Ponderosa again. Its NOT a buffet but its a real value for money chop house that is jammed packed every night. Kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday (2 kids per adult).

Also each main comes with free all you can eat salad and bread, it really is a great place for steak and chops etc.

If you dont like it I will eat my hat.

Check out the website for the menu. Also as its sooooo busy there you will probably want to call ahead and tell them you are coming. There is a big wal mart opposite so you can always waste half and hour in there whilst you wait for your table.

    Cheers

    Re Mannys
Its quite nice sitting on the balcony watching the trucks thunder by. With a
drink of course whilst waiting to be called.
Wife loves the stuffed Flounder--of course you always go to a steak house for fish.

Ohh they have a happy hour too, but imported beers not included neither are spirits but we have always had them! It is always full and guess what its full of Americans.

Going to Florida on 15/10 and still not booked accomodation yet, although we have a good fallback hotel if needed.

We have a carribean cruise booked in the middle of our three weeks and need a 10 day stay followed by a 4 day stay afterwards.

Family of four = two kids 7 and 5.

    Any recomendations ?

Where abouts do you want to stay? Whats your budget, will you have a car?

I can suggest lots of hotels but I have no idea if you want a cheap idrive place or a Disney property place.

    Here are some suggestions anyway....

    - best, go for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. One of the nicest luxary Disney resorts. Or try Port Orleans which is smaller than Caridean beach resort and in my view nicer, or from the value range go for Pop Century, the best value resort they do for location etc.

Or if you do not want Disney then a halfway house is the hotels on plaza bld such as Regal Sun. You can also try the Swan and Dolphin which are on Disney property but not managed by Disney.

Further away the Comfort Inn in LBV is always nice and a tad cheaper. Or the Nickelodeon Hoitel which is a fun place.

If you are after chains, I prefer Marriotts and there are some good ones in the Marriott Villiage at LBV or the Residence Inn on Palm Parkway. Have a look at Marriot.com

However, it seems you know where to look for reviews etc so have a look where you are looking and if there is something there that takes you fancy mention it back here and I am sure someone will give you a view.

Hi, I'm looking at 2 hotels in Lake Buena Vista for next year. I really would welcome some comments on both of them. They are The Fairfield Inn at Marriott and The Regal Sun (formerly Grosvenor). Many thanks in advance.

We stayed at The Fairfield Inn at The Marriott Village earlier this year. We loved it and will definitely stay there again next time we go. If you want somewhere clean and comfortable, in a great location I would highly recommend it.

Here is a link to a review I did on The Fairfield Inn on Holiday Watchdog

I can too. But the way i see it this.

Go in Summer and have hefty queues, brutal heat, loads and loads of rain. The place is jam packed and it costs an absolute fortune.

Go in January and it is at least 50% cheaper to go, weather is much milder but still warm, no rain (or very very little) no queues, parks near empty.

Its a no brainer if you ask me.

But assumes you're not restricted to School holidays which alot of people are! :D

I have two children. One who is in school.

I see no problem in timing the family holiday so that a few days of school are missed.

Buena Vista Palace hotel at Lake Buena Vista was very nice four star hotel, across the road from Downtown Disney. Was about the same price as motel-like Pop Century/All Stars.

It was refurbished last year. Would recommend.

Assuming u can, we cant with ours, you have to get permission from the school head, who will only give it if one of the parents can prove that the only time they get off work is during some term time.
Take every day as it comes!!
