What's EMH?
Day 1 is a Sunday (we actually arrive on the Saturday morning, but have left that day out for flight recovery!!)
We're not staying on site - we're staying in Lake Buena Vista ... does that make huge differences? We've got a hire car.
Thanks again
EMH is Extra Magic Hours
people staying at Disney properties can gain entry to the parks an hour earlier and stay 3 hours later on certain days.0 -
Thanks everyone for advice on sat nav, gonna just use the maps you have recommended, I have a pretty good sense of direction and can read a map (knew that Duke of Edinburgh award would pay off one day!) (and have no clue how to use a sat nav!) I was a bit worried as I'm driving on my own with my daughter and as we're not on site wasn't sure how well signposted it was when you left the main area. Saying that....I just know I'm going to get sooo talked into upgrading at the airport as much as I'll try not to!:rotfl:Back on it!0

Its each to their own but i really think those saying you should use a map over a sat nav are having you on.
There really is no comparison. Sat Nav everytime, not only that but you can avoid the tolls.0 -
oh I don't know what to do now!! :eek:Back on it!0

I am afirad I do not agree. We have a TomTom 720 with the latest US maps and it still does not have all the places on it, like the reworked exit from Tampa Airport or the excellent Winter Garden Village stores complex.
The Google maps is a excellent program and really does do great easy directions from A to B and has little maps with it.
Thre is no denying Sat Nav is not good, but once you get used to the signposts over hear and the way they show the roads you are on (ie the sign post in front of you is the crossing and the one goinf the same way is the road you are on you will be fine
Also remember its only ever about three roads to get to anywhere so really if you have a satnav then use it, if not then really the maps are fine and you will be fine.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Get the sat nav, put in your destination and drive there. The roads are completely different to over here and for a first time driver messing about with a map will be a pain. They are littered with Toll roads and if you miss a junction what you going to do? Pull over on the hard shoulder and re check your map?
The single only reason to use a map is cost.
Map over Sat Nav, deary me. You have to laugh sometimes.0 -
how'd you work a sat nav??? do i need to program where I want to go before every journey? does it need postcodes (zipcodes) of all the places? sorry, I've never used one!Back on it!0

And when you miss your junction because you didnt realise the right hand road had suddenly become an exit?
I know a map is fine, but then i have drove thousands and thousands of miles in the US. This woman is going for the first time with kids on her own. To advise her she will be fine with a map and to give the Sat Nav a miss is pretty useless in all fairness.0 -

- Turn it on
- Press navigate to
- Choose a point of interest (i.e theme park, zoo, petrol station etc) or type in the name
- Sit back and get directed there.
If you make a wrong turn it re directs you. If the road is blocked/traffic jam etc it will re route you. It tells you the exact distance and the time you will arrive.
No comparison.0
