  • Another thing to note: If buying tickets online, make sure your spam folder is set not to delete instantly, I didn't, and my confirmation email from them was deleted straight away! and as it was generated automatically they can't send another! Gutted!

Have you checked your deleted items maybe?

  • Does anyone know whether it's cheaper to prepay for a hire car in the UK, or wait until we get to Florida. Dollar rent a car do a prepay with petrol included, but a friend said she was charged again for petrol when she arrived there. Has anyone had any bother with Dollar? I would need to go with Dollar as the friends we are going with are sticking with them, and I need to drive behind them to find the villa!

I'm with disney-cjd. If you're staying off property, then its Lake Buena Vista everytime. I'm not a big fan of Kissimmee or the top end of I Drive as they don't feel as green and pretty (though I Drive South of Sandlake Road is nice).
If you are staying at a value resort, personally I find Pop Century way nicer than the All Stars, and it is much closer to the action, being just behind the Caribbean Beach (moderate resort).

However, there is an in-between option: have a look at the hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard. They are technically inside Disney, but are generally much cheaper than Disney for an equivalent room. You lose out on the theming, but they are in walking distance of Downtown Disney and the transportation system isn't bad either. My favourite is the Hilton, which is also one of the most expensive. If you get a room overlooking Downtown Disney on a high floor you can watch all of the theme park fireworks in one evening from the comfort of your room. Lovely...

Edited to add: Wyndham has a timeshare in Disneyworld called the Bonnet Creek Resort that may be worth checking out. It often has rented rooms at a reasonable rate. Not sure whether you would be pressured into buying (I've been over to look at it as I am a Disney Vacation Club member) and the accommodation was away from the "sales" area. Very nice accommodation too, and pretty new.

Hotel Plaza Blvd is an great place. Before our house we used to stay in the then Marriott now Holiday Inn soon to be demolished fr something else but yep you can walk to DTD and also you can walk to Crossroads which has some great resturants such as Olive Garden (my fav), Chevvys, Peebles, UNO. There is also a supermarket there.
