I prefered it when it was Back to The Future, but I last went on that 10 years ago, so my mind could be playing tricks on me. It's pretty similar to be honest, seems they've just updated it for the kids who don't know or care for Back to The Future. It's well worthwhile though, a simulator of a rollercoaster.
The queues for it were getting quite horrendous by late afternoon (this was back in May) so I'd recommend heading there first thing.
I bought express passes for the days we are at Universal - done it the past few years. Bit expensive but worth it. You can only use it for each ride once (or more if your lucky and the attendant doesnt mark the ticket!)but you are able to do all the rides in the 2 parks in a day! Not much waiting time. :j0 -
Just looking at the weather outside - its pouring of rain! Typical summer I suppose! 6 weeks on Friday! 4th time in 4 years and still get excited! Even the threat of a hurricane does not put me off - was there just after Ivan hit in 2004! I was more concerned if my holiday was going to be cancelled! :eek:0

That rollercoaster is excellent. I got on thinking "oh it'll be nowt lol", next minute I'm hanging on for dear life laughing my head off. Cypress Gardens is nice and when I went there was no queques for anything.
Here is the StarLiner
we love this coaster. ITs a real bone shaker but good fun.

hi.
we are hoping to go to disney world between 12th and 26th dec. we are wondering wether it is best to book a hotel on site, or off site. we can obvioulsy get cheaper accomodation off site, but would it work out cheaper in the long run. also could anyone please give me advice on the best kind of tickets to get before we get there. this is real spur of the moment and we are not sure if we can afford it. we have cancelled the holiday we were due to go on next week. could anyone please give me a ballpark figure on what it would cost for everything including spending money and going self catering. tickets to disney/universal. we dont want to rough it, and we dont want to have to scrimp whilst we are there.
there are 4 of us. 2 adults/1 child 12yrs old probably classed as adult, and 1 further child 7
thanks in advance

They are interchangeable. I've used my (UK) AA card for discounts all over USA. Disney almost always ask for the card if I book an AA rate, though I tend to go for the APH rates normally as they are cheaper.0 -

It's really hard to answer this without some more information:
Are you happy to fly indirect to potentially save some money?
Do you want to drive?
As a rough estimate, you will be looking at approx £1800 for flights, £200 car (including insurance), £700 tickets for Disney & Universal, £400 for reasonable 3 star hotel and then your spends. So that's £3k before you factor in spending money. Is that the sort of figure you were expecting?
There are loads of ways to save money and eating out is very cheap in Orlando.0 -

Coolio.
We use our AAA in Disney all the time for discounts on stuff. Also buy attraction tickets using it for discounts. Mind you the Florida residents rates are just great, For example we can get a years Universal pass for 114 dollars!Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Why not book a villa - try villarenters.com (owned by Teletex) for some really good deals. Just booked mine though it - 4 bedroom + pool = 3 weeks for £1150 all in. The same would cost you £405.00 for a week in Dec.
or Paradise Cove Town House, Orlando, Florida (Ref: 15730) = £299 in Dec (3 bed town house sleeps 8)0 -

i was expecting including spending money of £5-6000.
how much would indirect flights potentially save me?
could we really get tickets for disney(14 days) and universal for £700 for all 4 of us.
what extra costs would we incur by not staying in disney, and what are the benefits we would not get by not staying in disney.Debt free. March 2020

For and against Disney property is a hard one.
For - great atmosphere, great service, all themed and some better access times to parks etc. HOWEVER shopping and food is a litle expensive. Also you get free transport to all the Disney parts. But which hotel? The value hotels such as All Stars etc are a far way away from anything. If you can streach to the moderate resorts I like the Port Orleans as it has a cool boat ride to Downtown Disney
As for off property, again you need to consider an area. I like LBV best and am not a fan of I Drive but each to there own. If you do not have a car you need a hotel that runs shuttles to the parks and some shops so in LBV you will get shuttles to the parks and to the LBV Factory stores. on I Drive you can get the lynx buses anywhere.
