Anyone can buy an annual pass, no matter where you are from. What happens is that Floirda residents, i.e. perminant residents can buy a cheaper annual pass.

Annual passes come with free parking which saves 11 bucks a visit

So what do you need for a Florida resident status?

Well Disney were loose on this a few years ago then got very strict and now are a little more relaxed. A valid Florida ID or Driving licence and a copy of two utility bills will do the job.

be careful though, if you are not a permiantn resident your ID or DL will be valid for the period of your visa or i94w (the green immigration card you complete so thats 90 days). They might spot this.

So for many home owners you can get the annual passes and saved a few bob.

I'm just curious why you would pay to use the toll road when you can just as easily use the I4 for free?:o

We prepaid when we landed as it was recommended by a friend so you don't have to pay on teh toll roads then, some camera takes a photo of your number plate and then thats it. BUt we never used the toll road until we went back to the airport (Sanford). So you don't need to use them really, you can get to the airport on the I4. We were staying just of the 27 so to get to the Disney parks we use the 192 or the I4.

You can easily get around without using any of the toll roads.

Just wanted to add something on the Annual Pass issue. If you are looking to use an Annual Pass you get a better use from it if you can stagger your holidays. We go two or three times per year. So we will buy a pass in say, December. Use same pass for holiday in January and May (we never go to Florida in Summer). We will then book our holidays the following year on a different rotation, so that the December holiday will be a bit earlier (say early November) so that we can get an additional holiday out of it. By doing this you can actually get the cost per day in the parks sub $10 (even bearing in mind we don't go to Disney every day), but you do have to go a lot.

If you go to Disney once a year this may still be a good option for you if you go roughly the same time. Say you are going in the Summer holidays, you would take your first trip in say August, and your following year's trip in July so that you are still using all 365 days. You are unlikely to visit Disney the total of 28 days, but if you do, your Annual Pass works out at just over $17 per day incl of tax. They also give you the opportunity to go to say Epcot for a concert in the evening, on a day you would not otherwise use your pass.

Whether or not it is worth getting an Annual Pass versus length of stay or any other type really depends on how you are going to use it. As Disney-cjd points out, the ability to park for free is a great additional bonus if you are staying outside of Disney, however annual passes also have other bonuses such as money off shopping and hotel rooms.

    Oh no!!!

Have just heard the news from last week that Disney is going to close Pleasure Island in September and redevelop it as more restaurants and shopping :eek::eek::eek:

Where will I get my Adventurers Club fix now?

I can see why they would want to get rid of most of it because its been dead on its feet for years. But all of it? Guys, no more days falling off the rotating dance floor at Mannequins (and that's sober...) and no more boogie nights at 8 Trax. Its a travesty..

Still, its only fair that Disney get even more money from us for merchandise and food...

    Anyone else feel the same?

    Hi Kelly,

I'm curious, how do you get to I4 without taking a toll road (ie the Beachline aka 528)? Please don't say Sandlake Road, I hate Sandlake Road and all those traffic lights, and traffic lights, and traffic lights... Am always on the lookout for new routes that I haven't found yet..
We took Lake Mary Blvd which you get on as soon as you leave Saford and you just follow it from about 10-15 minutes until you come across the signs for the I4 West.

I think Kelly and vivatifosi are talking about two different airports here hence the confusion.

    Thanks budget_mum,

You are right, only ever fly into OIA as OH works for BA..

I think budget-mum was, but I got my wires crossed. I get very excited at the prospect at getting to Disney from OIA without my bag of quarters and thought I might learn a new way of getting there... sulk!

I did try the great route mapping link that was mentioned on the previous page but it still wants to send me down Sandlake Road (yuk)...

Still, Orlando does change rapidy, if I don't go there for four months they're bound to have put a new road in somewhere. Sooner or later they'll build a new non-toll one to the airport (she says, always in hope)..
