  • Morning folks, hope you're all ok. As I was up early I managed to squeeze an extra load on cheap electric, will put on airer in a while. Another quiet day here, were all feeling a bit under the weather. Plans for today:

    Small shop, stick to list. May go to mr t as I have some coupons for things on my list
    Meals from stores
    Get ready for week ahead
    Make sausage rolls
    Make some crumble mix, then make crumble, freeze any leftovers
    Smalls to prepaid swimming
    Reconcile just for points credit card
    Check Decembers budget

    Have a good day everyone. Purps.
  • Morning everyone

    Have been reading along as usual but not alot to post

    katy_ann I was every so sorry to read ur posts. Sending big hugs. I had to go it alone with a small, DD was only a baby, was the hardest thing but turned out to be the best thing I did for myself and DD
    CLF hoping that-the boiler gets sorted and that u don't need a new one

    Have been doing small amounts of paperwork and now I've finished the medication I'm feeling more like myself. Paperwork received to start the process of putting in an official complaint to health authority.

    Foxgloves the updates of the cat make me smile. They have such quirky personalities. I had a £100 gift card after taking part in a 4 day survey so I've used some of it to buy cat food on Amaz@n while it has been on a special price. I've sat doing all the price comparisons but I've had some really good deals with the Amaz@n own vouchers taken off aswell, plus handy to be delivered.

    Nothing I really needed or wanted in the Black Friday deals. Did find 2 items with nearly £3 pounds off each to put away for next year on Amaz@n so they have been ordered. I'm not a big fan of Amaz@n but they have been the cheapest and ideal items for presents.

    Slowly updating my spends book. Have been pretty good at putting receipts to one side.
    When I have gone to the supermarket on a box hunt, I've have just picked up items I will need aswell to save me carrying large amounts home all in one hit. Have been trying to stay active and do small trips out of the house each day.
    Have got a small stash of foodie bits put away for Christmas while they have been on a special. Haven't gone overboard as DD and I are always left with too much. Haven't bought any chocolates as we always get given alot. Resisted the temptation to buy the tins of sweets when they were on offer.

    Managed to get onto the next correctly delivered survey with RM. I am also back on the live survey so hoping to get the diary and Christmas stamps.
    Have been posting items for a charity auction, still 2 items to send. I don't mind taking part in it, just hate the packaging up after to send!
    One item on eb@y to finish today. Have bids on it.

    That's about it from me. Off to sort the cats out

    Have a great day everyone x

    HK - Oh my days, they are quirky alright......our's has been starting to turn his nose up at a decent brand of biscuits recently. Mr f was shopping to budget yesterday, so bought him some supermarket complete own label version & they were wolfed this morning as though he was still a starving street cat, not one that has been living with us for over 4 years & is fed very well!

    Hi to everyone else,
    Not a huge job list today, as I had a slow start to the day when mr f brought me breakfast in bed, where I stayed until I'd finished reading my book.
    Today's money saving efforts:
    *Turned down the radiator in my little HQ room - I swear I did this the other day. Reckon mr f must have sneaked it up a notch......for cat!
    *Leftover roast chicken from last night will do us chicken & chips tonight. I just need to make a rice pudding for later, but that has to be one of the easiest cheapest desserts out there.
    *Off to local Christmas lights switch-on later - have got a purse full of change for the charity stalls, but I am aiming for free parking & have no intention of going in too early when shops could get a bit tempting.
    *Another 10 ebay items sold last night, so have been getting up to date with admin for that. Prepared another pile of stuff to list tomorrow.
    *Did a survey - re-registered for Toluna as my password had developed a problem again. Was pleased to see over 116,000 points. I could go for 190,000 & have £35 cash paid to my Paypal or I could cash in now for an e-voucher. Will decide what would benefit us most.
    *Finalise our Christmas food list - thoughts on that may well follow on my dfw diary update.
    *Synchronise our diaries for the week ahead plus anything not already written in for December with it being a busy month. Being very organised always saves us money - even the simplest of things, like knowing when packed lunches are required or weekends where neither of us are available for grocery shopping,etc.
    *Load washer & set on timer for Economy 7 overnight laundry.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
    *Went through current voucher stash in my desk drawer to see where we are with dates on those.
    That will be it for today, as I want to spend the time between finalising our Christmas food list & going to see the lights making a start on writing Christmas cards.
    Bye for now,
    F x

    Afternoon all :)
    Early start as we went to a flea market, as we often do on Sunday mornings. Bought a few little bits to sell on, but that is a business cost and accounted for in respect of that, as opposed to a personal or household spend.
    The little antique cupboard that I had listed on FB marketplace was sold and collected this morning :) I have enquiries on 2 other items, so will wait to see if they happen. Also have an item ending on ebay today, a book that I bought secondhand and changed my mind about. I will get my money back plus postage at least :)
    Finished a month long finance / spending survey for Ipsos, and that is now ready to post off. They are paying £15 for this, which isn't much for the amount of information / time involved, but as I record spends anyway it wasn't that much extra work for me. Anyway, it is done now.
    Updated spreadsheet from my spending diary, and did a bit of business paperwork as well.
    Tidied up a bit
    Labelled and packed a box of items ready to take to my sales unit tomorrow morning, will put in the car out of the way in a minute :)

    Used up some bits from the fridge for lunch
    Dinner will be gammon with creamed leeks from the garden and a tray of roasted veg, to use up more fridge stuff. Will make a pudding as well (I only really do this on Sundays or if we have guests)
    Might make some scones as well :)
    A load of washing

    Must also remember to water in the plants I put in yesterday!

    Evening all,
    Todays been a bit of a weird day but everyone's home now so looking forward to a bit of family time once ds comes out of the shower.
    In the way of small things
    * popped to aldee and just got the milk and bread off my list
    * shared bath water and continued use up of lotions and potions
    * made families lunches for tomorrow
    * all meals from stores
    ]
    I've got big plans for this coming week to keep my head busy and I'm going to try and be a bit more inventive in the kitchen to use ups bits and pieces and then plan to give the cupboards a good wipe down next week before we start getting our xmas food in.

    Thats it for me.

    Take care all

  • Hey guys :D jeeps I feel shocking! Had such a good time last night, feeling it today! So today it's my birthday :) and ds & dd came over, we went for a lovely walk with pup and stopped at a pub for a pint, then came home and ds cooked us roast lamb :D

    I got lots of lovely gifts - dd is really generous and got me loads! including a pattern maker curved ruler - which I LOVE! - a dressing gown, lush products including a bar of shampoo :D, wine, chocolates, socks. And oh got me a sewing box, so all of my sewing supplies are in there rather than several other containers :D Feeling spoilt and loved!

    Really not much small things going on, but it hasn't been a wildly extravagant day. Think I'm going to have a bath once madam goes to bed and an early night!

    Hi November Networkers,

    Evening!:coffee: Day off. :) Crowbarred myself out of my bed today and DW and I deep cleaned the bedroom. :D Back in the day I would've paid someone to do this. Instead DW and I are deep cleaning one room at a time.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:

    * Checked online banking.

    * Got some exercise: cleaning!

    * Put bedroom curtains, mattress protector and two white mats in washing machine.

    * Hoovered mattress on all sides.

    * Wiped over whole of metal bed-frame.

    * De-bobbled mattress with a £1 lint-shaver from the PoundShop, bought ages ago. DW said it was broken but the fan blade was actually jammed up with lint.

    * Cleaned everything in the bedroom with diluted disinfectant. I seldom use disinfectant.

    * Removed mould (see footnote) from bedroom window. Gave the blind a bath. Broke a cord in slatted blind which I'll need to repair. :mad: Replaced sealant around window. Will repaint later.

    * Showered off storage boxes that live under the bed.

    * One out of six bulbs has blown in the bathroom. I'm not replacing it. We don't need that many bulbs.

    * Bed linen was only changed two days ago, so that's not getting changed again today.

    * Removed mould from the bathroom.

    * DW dissected and cleaned her late mother's bedside lamp with Stardrops and washable cloths.

    * Hoovered and washed floor.

    * DW steam cleaned the bath and shower. A few years ago she bought a small hand-held steam cleaner for £15. It gets little use, to be honest.

    Footnote:

    After many years of experimenting with different mould killing treatments, I am now sold on HG Mould Spray. I have tried eco solutions and been disappointed. I tried have fungicidal ones like Polycell and they weren't great either; still had to scrub like hell to get the mould off. Paid £8 for that them. But today I saw a YouTube review for HG Mould Spray and the product is incredible. It's the market-leading product and this stuff is like Kryptonite. It contains industrial strength lye?!? :eek: £5 a bottle. Over the last 7 days the bathroom had developed mould. I sprayed this stuff on, left it 10 minutes and when I returned 95% of the mild-moderate mould had vanished, no rubbing, nothing. I've honestly never seen anything like it. The mould vanished from the Artex ceiling too. Bought from a local hardware store, so I can feel virtuous about that at least. (Sorry planet.) I will try to use it sparingly.

    YouTube video: The guy uses foul language in it, you've been warned. (Link)

    Things don't have to be perfect to be wonderful.
