Evening all

One of those days when I have lots of jobs on the go, but have so far finished very little
Shopping at Mr S this morning, went early to avoid the crowds. Only bought the groceries on my list, though I did look at their homewares and they have some lovely things atm (shan't be buying them though).
Delivered GD's 5th birthday card by hand, as I had forgotten to post it. I will keep her little present here till I see here, probably tomorrow, as she has lots today. I haven't bought her much as I paid half towards her party at a local soft play place - rather that than yet more plastic tat, of which she has an inordinate amount
Went along to antiques arcade to check on my sales unit - it looked like a bomb site and there were gaps, so I decided to do a partial restock. Came home and sorted out items to take down, and did so after lunch.
Also decided to sort / clean loft conversion bedroom and ensuite, which is a real mess, what with kids' toys and my sales stuff all over the place  Decided to try to rehome a couple of small bits of furniture. Definitely to sell rather than freecycle, as they are lovely antiques, but even though they are only small pieces, I don't really have room for them. I have too much furniture
One is now in my sales unit and the other on FB Marketplace for now. Fingers crossed they sell. If not will try ebay. Meanwhile I have to contents of one of them all over the spare bed
I want to put away some of the 'stuff' on display downstairs too, and have started to sort this out. Unfortunately it is one of those jobs where it looks worse before it starts to look better
Did a little bit in the garden, tidying round the compost bins. I have other things to do out there, but decided today wasn't the day.
Then there is the marmalade... the peel is simmering on the stove right now. It needs to be lovely and tender before I add the sugar. Ever had marmalade with unpleasant, hard bits of peel in it? That is because the peel wasn't cooked sufficiently before the sugar / hard boiling stage. I am going to steal your muffins idea btw Foxgloves
So I have lot of half done things which are not all going to get finished tonight. I will do the marmalade and see how we get on from there!0 -

Evening folks!
Thanks for all the boiler wishes. British Gas are coming tomorrow, but the good news is that I tried it on the off chance and it worked so we've not been cold this evening.
I suspect that the dicky temperamental bit is getting more temperamental. Can ask the BG chap about this tomorrow.
OH feeling a tad under the weather (I think he might have the lurgy that I had a couple of weeks ago). Poor lamb went to bed at 8, although I can't pretend I'll be far behind him.

Morning (just!) folks!
BG man has been. As I suspected, it's the diverter - the bits that switches from hot water to heating. It's getting stuck on hot water. It's always done this, but could be freed up by turning the hot water on and off a couple of times.
The man has applied a load of lubricant to the diverter and says that it is better than it was, but he's going to come back on Monday with some sort of part. I was a bit surprised as the last man said that you can't get parts for the boiler any more (it's about 24 yours old) . Perhaps this is just a standard component as opposed to a part though IYSWIM
Either way, my day is much chirpier now.
I've been a busy bee and finished my spruce up of the kitchen window. I even got the sewing machine out to hem the new curtains!
Today's mission:- B/L/D from stores
- Make a massive frittata for brekkie/lunch and use up a load of bits from fridge - done
- Heating off until later and then low and little as poss. - totally off. I'm toasty warm
- Knit sock - am currently on the heel flap - done
- Look on Ravelry for crochet scarf pattern for Christmas presents - found one that is easy and effective. Am currently crocheting it!
- Tidy round - done
- OH gigging but afternoon gig and he'll be back for tea

- Check over paperwork for OH's accountant
Have a good one all

Good afternoon all,
Katy_ann, I hope your ds has a lovely birthday
Dnms, have a fab night out.
Clf, good news about the boiler
Pf, hope you get your quiet weekend, sounded like you could do with one after your busy week.
We're having a bit of a back to front weekend as we've had Sunday lunch today (my folks are going on holiday tomorrow so we all got together today to have a catch up before they go)
Todays small things
* ys bread used for breakfasts
* Fridge bottom veggies all cooked up to go with lunch
* stewed some bruised apples and mixed with some berries out of the freezer as the base of a crumble for dessert
* ds dropped off at his friends for his first ever sleep over (he was VERY excited bless him, I don't think they'll do much sleeping)
* popped into sainsbugs with a list and used £10 off £50 and at triple points voucher
* received a £5 voucher from rm surveys - popped into my purse for next time I go to icyland
An evening of cwtching up with ds2 with a picnic tea whilst watching a film from our stash sounds like a good plan now!
Take care all.

Afternoon everyone

Continuing with the ongoing jobs today. DD came round with the children for several hours, but I have:
Wiped and labelled the marmalade jars - finished it off last night and left it to cool till this morning. It has set beautifully
DD grabbed a couple of jars on the way out :rotfl:
Received some Christmas stamps and a diary from RM surveys
Planted up big pots in front garden - bought a few polyanthus and pansy plants at the market the other day, and used some rosemary cuttings I rooted back in the summer for a bit of structure / greenery
Did some tidying in the back garden, sorted out some pots that can go and put them on freecycle
Have hopefully sold an antique wall cupboard that I like but have no room for. Should be picked up in the morning
Some of the ebay items have bids
OH cooking tonight, if warming up leftovers and putting some potatoes in the oven counts as cooking :rotfl:
Sorted out a few items to take to sales unit on Monday - coloured glass items to make it look Christmassy
Must go through some of the boxes and find some other bits.
Operation loft conversion bedroom is ongoing :eek:0
