As I said next Friday I am cancelling the DD. OFTM will be getting the same reading as I give the new supplier as my opening reading. If I feel it is neccesary I will get the camera and take a photo of each reading, including the gas and send it to the same person who asked for photo's of my meter reads and let them sort it out.

They will reject it for Final Billing purposes as they are required to do. The gaining supplier manages the transfer of supply. The meter readings that you provide are independently verified by an industry third-party. The verified readings are then passed back to the two suppliers to open and close your accounts.

This afternoon my DD amount was £50 but just now it has jumped to £102.09? OFTM really are trying to screw as much as possible out of customers as they can get. Never mind next Friday tomorrow morning it's getting cancelled. OFTM wanted to charge me £87 a month back in July but settled on £50. Just imagine if I had paid £87 a month I would be hundreds in credit. I would have paid them £435 in 5 months, it took me two months to get back in credit paying £50 just imagine if I had paid £87 a month I would have had an increase to nearly £170 or more, if you take my latest rise that they won't get.

    OFGEM are interested when :

A supplier does not abide by Condition 27 of the Gas Supplier License
    or
They keep re-instating cancelled direct debits
    or
Not following their own complaints process

And sadly for OTM, they are doing all 3 of the above !
OFGEM are on the case according to the updates I have seen.

Have a look at some of the past investigations that Ofgem has launched. In some cases, it has been nearly 18 months before Ofgem came to a formal conclusion. That is not to say that the Regulator is not having a quiet word with the supplier behind the scenes given its past failures to respond to consumer complaints before the damage was done.

    Hi All,

Have just joined the OFTM FB Group and lo and behold new info has appeared that backs up what I've though all along, namely, OFTM has deplorable legal advice, particularly when it comes to Contract Law.

Anyhow, here's the pst which should be of interest to all of you are the figures quoted are startling:

    "****NEWS FLASH****

A disgruntled manager from OFTM (still employed ) has confidentiality contacted us & told us the following :

As of Wednesday this week, they have a backlog of 10 thousand ( yes 10,000 ) unanswered e-mails & complaints.

We have also been told that there are only a total of about SIXTY ( yes 60 ) employees working in the whole building over all departments. ( spread over all three energy companies ....they are pooling resources )

With half of them NOT CUSTOMER FACING ....leaving only 6 answering e-mails .... 6 answering phones....6 in the accounts dept.

NONE in debt collection or debt recovery.

Just found this online from Which Magazine

    Outfox the Market

This 100% renewable electricity supplier charges a monthly membership fee (which varies depending on your usage) and customers then buy electricity at wholesale prices. Outfox the Market says this business model is already popular in Denmark.
When we included Outfox the Market in our energy company call waiting times investigation, we found it was quick to respond both on live chat and on the phone. It took under a minute to answer calls to its customer services and responded on live chat in just 16 seconds on average.

And the waiting times are now? HOURS, DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS

    @wild666,
It was just a copy and paste from FB Group, which I then added italics too, which is regular publishing practise when reproducing material from another publication - it stops accusations of plagiarism.

If true it would explain some of their dodgy decisions. :rotfl:

Dad. You could charge them for.....
Sorry Dad, I've just phoned a friend and apparently you can't do it. You'd better send out an apology before they start complaining.
    Dad. I've had another idea....

The way OFTM is behaving suggests to me they have a cash flow problem and they won’t be around much longer.

It is actually very easy to see exactly what OFTM is doing. To recap, OFTM customers will pay more in Winter when their bills are higher and less in summer when their bills are lower. That's prepaying energy along the lines of Powershop whose customers buy their energy in advance. Perhaps the only thing missing with OFTM is the discount Powershop customers get if they buy more energy.

It's distinct from for example EDF which uses meter readings to forecast energy usage over the next 12 months and then divides the total by 12 to calculate the monthly DD under their budget scheme. That's the scheme I'm on with the EDF Easy Online Dec 2019 fix.
