I have £49 in credit with them and i already agreed for a switch with another company that will take over from 25th December or 1st Jan but my DD with these clowns OFTM will be taken by 20th Dec.
Can I just cancel that and call it massive DD cancellation to see what happens later ?0 -
Any advice to sort this.Im thinking of cancelling d/d?.
The route I've taken is to email them and tell them not to take any further DD payments due to the fact that I'm switching providers and have a substantial credit balance on my account.
If they contravene this instruction I will simply ask the bank to transfer the money back to my account under the DD guarantee system.
The trouble with cancelling the DD (as I see it) is it's contrary to the terms and conditions you sign up to and could incur a penalty. Also, keeping the DD allows easier repayment of any credit owed back to me.
I don't know what the consensus is but I can't see OFTM lasting much longer at this rate. Their silence speaks volumes.0 -

My advice would be to switch to another supplier! It's clear OTM's customer service is terrible and, with the price increase / standing charge changes coming in January, you'll probably be able to find a better deal.
I wouldn't recommend cancelling the DD as OTM say they can charge £25 for late payments.
If the DD increase is going to cause you serious financial hardship (i.e. overdraft fees, not being able to pay important bills) then I would contact OTM to explain your situation. If not, then just request a refund of any credit balance they owe you after each bill.0 -

Reading other peoples experiences with OFTM, you've got somewhere between Bob Hope and 'no hope' of getting even a reply.0 -
Good luck anyone emailing them about cancelling DD. They do not respond.0

If they don't reply, then go ahead and reverse the DD. At least you've got something to go back on if OTM try to bill you the £25 fee.0 -
I’ve cancelled direct debit and switched to SSE.spent 35 mins in phone queue and guy I spoke to just told me the increase is to do with new structure of taking higher payments thro winter and lower thro summer. However if they go bust then they are collecting an awful lot of over payments. He advised if I don’t like it then to switch to new supplier and hung up on me.
I’m going to keep an eye as to whether they re set it up.0 -
I am cancelling my DD next Friday that's when I move to the new supplier. I will email them also and tell them it has been cancelled and if they try to take any more payments I will take them to court for trying to obtain money by deception, Fraud. I will have them in court so quick they won't know what's hit them.Someone please tell me what money is0

OFTM are not collecting 'overpayments', but rather are collecting payments more aligned to usage.
i.e. in summer you use less, so will pay less; in winter you will use more so will pay more.
Most suppliers collect a simple fixed amount eaxh and every month (although some of the small ones do also collect higher payments over the fisrt winter, if you join them in the rum up to this period, and some do not allow you to go into debit at all - as that is one way the smaller suppliers keep their prices low)
If you are with a supplier that collects a fixed amount every month, and join them say at the end of winter, they are the ones that will accrue large credits on customer accounts.0 -

How will you do that?0
