How will OTM refund credits on accounts if there is no DD active? I'd assume via cheque in the post?

Another one here leaving this shoddy energy firm...
DD originally £65 and I've been quite happy with outfox since March this year. Then queue the madness of November email upon email putting our price up. Todays email was the final straw when they now want to charge me £150+ for my dual fuel from January. Not happening!!
Have now challenged this months direct debit with my bank as this was higher than stated. So they are taking no more money from my account willy nilly. Switch done today and they can have what I owe by cheque - although I am sure the credit on the account will cover it …

They don't need a DD to return funds to you. That's a myth perpetrated by the suppliers to dissuade customers from cancelling DDs so the suppliers still have the means to take a final payment from you if your account is in debt.

A DD is a one way facility. It allows the supplier to take money from your bank account. It doesn't facilitate sending it back.

They can refund to your bank account as long as they have your sort code and account number. Obviously OTM have this info as evidenced by their use of it to reinstate cancelled DDs.

They may still choose to to refund by cheque.

I can now confirm that OFTM have honoured their DD notification of 15 November, namely that their revised DD payment of £119.13 has been removed from Bank Account, this being far higher than the £85.09 monthly payment structure signed up to in March this year, however its significantly lower than payments being forced on to others.

Of course, we have been notified of another change to our DD payment yesterday, which was the final straw for this poster, namely the language used, which was ominous to say the least.

As far as I'm concerned we have three further payments to make to OFTM with regards Winter Rates, however, at this juncture in time, come the end of March I'll have the bank cancel any further payments to OFTM until the business confirms that our payment schedule will be that detailed in their email of 15 November, any breach of this means I'm off. Of course such a course of action may be null and void if OFTM hit the wall in the next few weeks.
• This was an email I received this morning. Strange as my change over does not take place until 16 Dec. I am £400 in credit but haven’t issued a final meter yet. Let’s see what happens on the DD date.

I initiated a switch to Peter Gabriel's 1986 album, or "SO" last week, informed OFTM via email that as I was in credit, they did not need to take further DD payments. Checking my bank account they have taken the usual £65 DD instead of the proposed higher DD of £92 on the 5th, BUT I did receive an email this morning informing me they will be taking a higher amount of £117 on the 5th Jan 2019. As I will be live with SO on 21st Dec, and I am £33 in credit, this will not be necessary.

Also, I have no idea how this table below works as last month I was £92 in credit, then my DD was taken and now only £33 in credit.

04/12/2018 Invoice £33.44 CR
05/11/2018 Direct debit £92.89 CR
04/11/2018 Invoice £26.95 CR
05/10/2018 Direct debit £89.92 CR
04/10/2018 Invoice £23.98 CR
05/09/2018 Direct debit £65.94 CR

All DD payments so far have been £65 so no idea why they show as different figures on my online statement.

Suffice to say after a week I have had no response from OFTM. So glad I am leaving for pastures greener (literally)

That is showing cumulative balances so where it says DD it means the balance after DD. Where it says invoice it means the balance after the invoice
• Good morning.
I am also having a nightmare.Switched 16th nov.Told d/d would be £64.02 which they took late nov.Now emails telling me increase to £110.I had a £200 credited on previous supplier account and all correct readings given. When I first had queries my emails were answered but now I’ve complained they’re ignoring me.I was only paying £77 on old supplier and even that was too much hence the big credit build up.Absolute nightmare.

I received an email from my bank this morning informing me Foxglove Energy Supply Ltd have set up a new direct debit. Funny thing is, I've never had any other such notices from them in past 20 odd years I've been banking with them, so why now?

Looks to me that they've been getting lots of calls from angry OTM customers cancelling their direct debits... They end the email:

When cancelling a Direct Debit, you should cancel the agreement with the organisation, as well as your bank

The Direct Debit Guarantee covers Direct Debit payments. It cannot be used to address contractual disputes between you and the billing organisation.
