Been watching with interest as I have fought over winter/summer ridiculous DD increases.

The email today is taking the mickey, I understand energy going up, but to change from a £6.99/month (£83.88/yr) membership to 28p/day per supply (£204.40/yr) is crazy.

They have hidden it as a slight rise, but in total my bill would be 31% higher based on that. Contract or not, that’s a hike they cannot make you stick to, so I for one will leave.

Look at that standing charge increase hidden away at the end of the email! That would be an extra £10 per month for anyone on their low use tariff.
Your monthly membership fee will be replaced by a daily standing charge of 28p per fuel.

    28p x 30 days = £8.40

    Per fuel 28p x 2 x 30 days = £16.80

    28p x 30 days = £8.40

    Per fuel, so it's £8.50 a month x 2 = £17

    Current low tarriff is £7

It's per fuel so double that. Glad I am switching to a new supplier and I jumped when I did.

That should hasten the end for them with any luck.

The sooner they go out of business the better!! I hope the directors get properly screwed personally and hope they are blacklisted from operating in the industry again.
Rather excessive outrage. They're just an energy supplier who has increased its prices and changed how payments are taken.
  • Well that was faster than I thought. I only posted on the other forum that their finances were poor, less than 24 hours later this email arrives!!!
I've already switched to Peoples Energy. Their standing charge is only 18p per fuel, their gas is cheaper by 1.37p per kWh and their electricity is 13.51p compared to OFTM 12.79. I think the OFTM hike on standing charge to £17.36 a month is more than covered by that.
I hate to say it but I think they have just pressed the business suicide button. You'd have to be mad to stay with these clowns now!!
  • So glad I’ve started switching, so they’ve dangled a carrot to get customers on board and now hit them where it hurts in a short amount of time.
    Disappointing to say the least

So assuming dual fuel thats £3 per month extra and not £10.

That would be an extra £10 per month for anyone on their low use tariff.

I just have to laugh now whenever I get an email from OFTM. It's so comically bad how this business is run. Definitely switching from these clowns now.
