Outfox The Market Direct Debit changes

They've just taken my DD and it's the same as it was, not the higher winter amount as they told me, no real idea what's going on but I'm gone anyway, I don't like people being able to take as much as they like from my bank account and if the people I've switched to do the same then I'm off again, you can switch every 28 days according to Ofgem though that's not realistic because it takes around 21 days to actually complete the switch.
As far as I'm aware the new "winter payments" will start from the December DD's, at least that was what I was told0 -

That's why I am making sure I leave with as little credit as possible owed they will be taking £70 out on the 4th and I leave 10 days later and they will take £67 out the same day so that's £137 in just over a week.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
As you may recall, I had Freetime too BUT Total is the figure I use, Act 1 and 2 are blank, and this correlates with my final invoice from BG.
Yes, I know Scatty but they are using my free time as the reading but a different set of figures on the bill. I just need confirmation of what figure I should put into the readings I give Bulb nearer the time I will email them and get a confirmation from them of which figures to give them as it would be just like these cowboys to give them my free time reading as the figure for leavingSomeone please tell me what money is0 -
I would add that like the couple on the money box program I am free to leave any time. I would think that the price increase DD as someone else said is extortionate trying to make people pay 40% more in the winter and not offering other methods of payment. My initial rise was from £50 to £109.75, call it £110, I am in credit a few pounds £14 and last month my total bill was £36 after paying off a slight debit over the last few months, so £70 plus £14 is £84 and my usage is less than half that a month. I know my chosen provider BULB is cheaper than OTC but dearer once the standing charge is added and any fees are paid by them so could work out to switch to them then move again once you get the charges paid.Someone please tell me what money is0

Are any other posters on the Zapp 18 month Fix offered in the first quarter and what are your opinions over the present debacle - namely, are you staying PUT or leaving with exit fees for more expensive 'Fixed' deals?
At the moment, we're sticking with OFTM - trying to get our £300+ credit back but no response despite numerous emails/online chats.0 -
Good to see that Cheap Energy Club have been very quick to update the Customer Service Rating on their website that they got back from last week's Newsletter poll. Also now pointing out the uneven direct debit structure.
OFTM now reads on Cheap Energy Club -
"MSE Customer Service Rating: 10% Great, 14% Okay, 76% Poor (316 votes)
IMPORTANT: Outfox the Market sets higher direct debit payments during the winter months, so you’ll face significantly higher monthly payments between October and March, and lower bills in the summer. "
That should hasten the end for them with any luck.0 -
Wish I could help here, but our DD payment does not go through until the 5th of each month, I'm aware that our cost has gone from £85 to £119 as of December and that this will continue for four payment cycles and then our charge goes down to £51 a month until the end of September.
The above changes have little real impact on our finances given we are in the first cycle of this changeover, what will happen is that our in Credit balance will drop considerably and hopefully, by the time of the end of our contract on 1st October 2019 we'll be square, better be as come 30 days prior to the end of Contract I'll be looking elsewhere, unless OFTM make an offer hard to refuse.0 -
There are some overreactions here.
I am on" Zapp Tariff" . both Gas and Electric , I received the Email detailing the planned DD increase.
Their Email explained that if I did not agree with this arrangement then I could contact them to arrange an alternative payment structure.
I Emailed them to explain that I would not be using that much Gas or Electric and the reason that I submit monthly meter readings is to avoid estimated bills.
My next bill arrived and was the same amount as previously arranged when I signed up with them; so no nasty increase.
So far I have been very happy with Outfoxthemarket , they are a refreshing change from British Gas.
The last thing U.K. consumers need is for the smaller suppliers to go bust and for the big greedy suppliers to hold a monopoly.0 -
