:rotfl:
but then i would have checked before leaving. and after 2 years, well im sure its fine.
As its a van though, like someone else said, most aren't going to be driven by careful private owners regardless of who the owner is.0 -

If i was told it was a ex hire van i would not have got it.
I also just rang the company up to ask for advise on what i have found
And anyway, does really make that much of a difference. I doubt that sort of vehicle is going to be thrashed around by boy racers. Also, even if the previous owner was an individual you still have no idea how it was driven in the past.0 -

id just be paranoid about whats going to go wrong, and id rather my car come from someone who at least i can convince myself, has looked after it.0 -
if it was a cheap car yeah, but ive seen so many hire cars with duff transmissions etc, with very few miles on them.

These will be the same people who knacker clutches in their privately owned vehicles that you are happy to buy.
Unless you know the driving history of every person that has driven a vehicle (let's not forget one owner could mean several drivers) then you are taking pot luck.0 -
I got it from SG Petch Middlesbrough
Some helpful comments on here and some well......You be lucky:T0 -
so you would be happy to find your car was a hire car? I certainly wouldn't.

As you say the time to ask is BEFORE you buy. The time to be aggrieved is if the salesman lied to you when you asked.
Two years down the line and a van and the O/P didnt ask in the first place? Not so much....0 -

Lets be real here, MOST people will treat hire cars less gently than their own. you may not, but id say the majority would.
I'd say most people will drive a hire car as they would their own car. You would get some who will rag them on (and some who say they rag them on on an internet forum) but the reality is most people hire them for a reason and as such drive them to go about their daily business - often for fear of damaging it and paying a big excess too.
And with a van in particular :-- Whos to say a non hire van is driven by the owner driver anyway?
- Whos to say if it was hired it wasnt hired out long term to one company (often they are)
