Well this morning I have been playing. I decided to try out the open fireplace in my kitchen diner.......yes I did have the chimney swept first. :rotfl: I had that done last autumn but had not plucked up courage to try and light a fire before.

It's burning away merrily and I love it. I have been undecided as to whether to go for a wood burner when I do the renovations. Well I'm converted, it's a definite yes. So come summer I shall be getting that sorted for next winter.

I shall be begging Wood from all my joiner contacts......:rotfl:

Oh dear, CAndy. How frustrating for you. Tbh. That's one of the reasons I'm going to either reschedule or cancel my Iceland trip. I can't have everything.....choices have to be made.

You're right though I wouldn't be able to do half what I do if I wasn't frugal.

Go for it LL - so much more efficient than an open fire:). I got a multi-fuel installed almost two months ago and love it, yes a big spend and yes it costs for fuel but the heat is fabulous, much better than having the heating on high.:) Just make sure you get one that will meet the new legislation that is coming in;).

Minor champagne moment today as I used some of my personal spends pot to treat myself to the James Herriot vet books. I loved these (and the TV series) and following a random conversation over Christmas had a hankering to re-read the series. My library area doesn't have them and while I could request, it could be a long and unspecified time before they came in. Can't wait for them to arrive:D:D

My champagne moment yesterday was the realisation that I had been to see 10 films throughout January using my Odeon Limitless card. :j:D

They've already taken yesterday's labour charge from my card, so I've ordered it, but what a faff

  • My champagne moments were getting reflexology done and then coming home to a warm house. Absolutely horrible weather out there today. I'm going to hibernate for the rest of the weekend.:A

Brrrrrr.......Roll on spring. I have had enough of winter now. :rotfl:

I can just picture Zeus going mad at the fan heater. Dogs are daft. Hope you get your gas fire fixed soon. I really should have had a new one straight away. Mine is so inefficient. I am going to have to get better organised over the summer, the fuel bills are horrendous.

Not sure what the weekend will bring......it would have been my 36th wedding anniversary weekend.......I am a tad melancholy if I'm honest. I might take myself off to the pictures. I'll see how I feel. I prefer not to commit myself in case I'm a bit weepy.
