My champagne moments on Saturday and Sunday were going to the pub for a night of dancing on the Saturday and Karaoke on the Sunday. My sister H insisted on us going to and from the pub by Uber as she did not want to go by bus. I really felt pampered getting into a lovely warm car on a cold winter's day. :T

I sold 2 more items on eBay. So far this year I have made £45.84 this January. :D

I went to a Nigerian/Caribbean restaurant with my sister and my younger son and daughter. I bought 2 X 2 person Groupons and saved myself £67.60. :D We all had a 2 course meal with a glass of wine and enjoyed our Sunday lunch. :D

Hello everyone, poorly shoulder so I'll keep it brief.

Sounds like you are having lots of fun, SUgarbaby. And your evening out sounds lovely, Caronc.

Met a friend for coffee yesterday, not seen her fire while so a nice catch up.

Snow expected here later so just going to Hygge. :rotfl:

    Hello everyone!

Just got back form the dentist in order to get my mouthguard and boy ... those dental impressions are no fun :rotfl: :D

Will have to go to acupuncture or emmett therapy in order to release the tension on my jaw / get rid of my head aches.

The bad news: I sold something on eBay that was supposed to be shipped to Mexico ... and my country doesn't ship there (at least no jewelry). So I had to cancel that. 27 € less in my PayPal account since I had to transfer the money back

Anyway, I'll be getting that mouthguard on the 7th Feb. so I'm looking forward to that :rotfl:

I've never heard of that therapy before, interesting.:)

I've had two mouthguards but they seemed to make me bite down more at night. My dentist said that was unusual, though. I hope it works for you.:A

Champagne moments have definitely been of the home comforts variety today, I made a big pot of leek & potato soup for warming lunches this week and it's mince & tatties for dinner. It's snowy & icy out and I'm glad I have everything here that I need. "Pay day" for me tomorrow and after a spendy month need to do some serious "pot shuffling" to balance the books!

Beautiful crisp sunny winters day, a light sprinkle of snow but roads and pavements are fine.

I have already done my exercise workout (the joys of having my own little mini gym) and had breakfast so when the ice has melted off the car windscreen I'm going to go out whilst I can (I think there's more snow due tomorrow so the roads might not be as good). Carpe diem and all that.

Have spoken to the holiday company.....I have found two alternative dates for my Iceland trip, next summer, so hopefully they will switch it for me.....I'll just need to pay £50 admin fee but that's fine. Just waiting to hear from them that everything is ok.

This way i don't lose my deposit, and it gives me longer to save without dipping into the house fund. Tbh the timing suits me better too because I really want to concentrate on the house renovations this year. I would prefer to have a straight run and not have to drop everything to go on holiday.

All is good.........lots of nice little champagne moments, chatty phone calls with friends and family, exercising every day and starting to feel the benefit, spotted some crocuses coming up in the garden, nice eats, cosy fires, Netflix and a pile of books.

I have given up cheese and gone onto lacto free milk........my tummy feeling much better and I'm actually starting to lose a bit of weight. Wahoo. :rotfl:
  • My champagne moments yesterday were selling another item on eBay and going to watch the films The Mule and Green Book.
    :j:D
    The Mule
is about an elderly man in his 80's who is broke, alone and his business is facing foreclosure when he is given a driving job. He soon realises that he is a Mule for a drugs cartel. Clint Eastwood stars in the lead role and although he does a credible job, there are far more able older actors who could have done a much better job of this role. The only parts of this film I felt somewhat uncomfortable is when Clint is in sexual scenes with scantily clad young women. I had so many laughs watching this film and it gave a good portrayal of a man estranged from his family because he had neglected them and their eventual healing and coming together. I would give this film 8/10 :D

5 minutes after the end of The Mule I was watching Green Book. This is the story of a typical American Italian man, Tony 'Lip'who becomes friends with the Black concert pianist who he takes a job with as driver and enforcer with for 2 months. As Tony and his employer Dr Don Shirley travel across the deep South of the USA together, they forge a deep friendship as they both deal with the issues of class and racism in the 1960's. The music in this film is sublime, but the comedy is deeply amusing. I laughed aloud so much that my throat began to get sore and I had to suck on a throat lozenge. This film is inspired by a true story. I would give this film 10/10 as I could not fault it in any way. :j:D

    Good morning.

Sitting in bed like the Queen of Sheba with my morning coffee......warm and cosy, whilst outside it's -5c. I don't have to go out until the streets have been aired......:rotfl:

No more having to get up at the crack of dawn, de-ice the car windows, brave the elements to get to work and then freeze to death in my ice box of an office.....

This time last year I was in the Caribbean soaking up the sun and whilst I have not been that lucky this winter I still figure I am enjoying a champagne lifestyle, warm and happy in my home. I may not be joining the jet set in tropical climes this winter but I am happy hibernating till Spring.

I have just reviewed January's spending and planned February's budget. It's a bit swings and roundabouts. I did spend more on food than I had planned but that was deliberate because I decided to restock my Armageddon supplies. However, I clawed back the extra spent on food because I stuck to my no clothes spending pledge (other than £2 for a beaded evening bag) and I was very lucky because the car sailed through its MOT. I even managed to make a start on my earn £2019 in 2019 challenge. I also cleared my credit card bill in full. I aim to keep credit card spending down to an absolute minimum now, basically just any online spending.

I have replenished my savings that I borrowed from and starting this month I am now in a position to start overpaying my mortgage. So feeling quite pleased with myself.

Barring any nasty financial shocks I reckon that If I continue as well as I've started I should be able to stretch my lemonade budget even further and continue to live well, whilst overpaying the mortgage and saving up for holidays and treats.

    Onwards and upwards......

Oooops. Just remembered. I did buy a new to me trench coat from a chazzer. £3.50. Well it would have been rude not to at that price.....lol.
