Phoebe..........Your kitchen looks absolutely fab-u-lous. Well done both of you.
My cabinets will be a bit paler than that.....but yes something along those lines. Love the mirror sconces, so pretty and of course your copperware looks wonderful. I will try and post piccies when I'm done.6 -
phoebe1989seb said:Our new kitchen is one of our biggest champagne moments on a lemonade budget as it was already purchased to use at our previous house when we decided to sell up and relocate. As there were so many other pulls on our purse strings here (£11k for a borehole, anyone?!?!) we're having to make savings where we can, so more matching cabinets at several hundred £££ a pop were out of the question. Instead we've used a mix of vintage stuff and DH has made the rest, making it all look like it was intended to be together. The original cabinets we bought came unpainted so I have done that as well as the styling. DH plastered walls, did plumbing and carpentry etc. I'm so incredibly lucky to have such a talented DH
The 'tiled' backsplash is actually wallpaper with tempered glass over - a huge champagne moment for very little outlay as we already had the paper!
Most of the accessories are items we've had for years whilst a few were charity shop/ebay/fleamarket/Homesense finds. There's hardly anything we've paid full price for and virtually everything was done by us! It's not quite finished - the island is still awaiting its microcement but currently DH is too busy working his gardening magic for paying clients....... I might have to learn another skill myself.....5 -
For some reason it would only let me attach one pic so here's another showing our bargainicious John Lewis sofa (£300 on gumtree instead of £2k!) and DH's amazing larder area. He also built a pair of soft close bin cabinets disguised as drawers, but these are out of shot
Painting not finished so excuse the awful cutting in, lol!

Phoebe your kitchen looks gorgeous. Lucky you having a husband that is able to do so much excellent DIY and that sofa was a fabulous bargain.4

I meant to say, DS is currently giving a new lease of life to the kitchen of the house he and his partner bought last summer. It was specifically fitted for the elderly/disabled lady who previously owned it, so everything is low/pulls out etc - not ideal when you've a toddler but needs must at the moment as their budget won't currently stretch to a new kitchen.
I've only seen pics so far but it's totally transformed from bland to bright (it is in Brighton, lol!) being orange and blueAll done with gifted paints (good old mama and papa!) and sample pots. DS has even scored the floor with an angle grinder before painting to match the floorboards in the open plan dining area......genius!
Definitely another champagne moment
LL - hope you'll be able to share pics of your fabulous new space when it's finished!!!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Had a lucky escape today. The car wouldn't start again, battery low, but the AA guy got it going, n told me to take it for a 45 min drive.I ended up at Lytham, near the windmill, eating a Mcflurry
Thank God I didn't need a new battery"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hello everyone - I have been on my Palm Springs adventure and am now firmly back in reality! Haven't posted for ages, I was busy getting ready to go, then I was there, and this week has been a blur of unpacking, washing, going back to work and being hit by jetlag! I had a fabulous time, I really did and I met some amazing and inspiring women who are making a real success of their businesses. I have come back with lots of information to digest, and a renewed enthusiasm for my blog (or my escape plan as a work colleague called it...!). I didn't get to see much of Palm Springs as the conference took up most of my time, but I did do the aerial tramway (amazing - scary as I have a fear of heights but I was very brave), and also visited the downtown festival on the Thursday evening. I had a couple of days in LA, I stayed at one of the airport hotels which was amazing (had room service for the first time in my life!!) and I did a bus tour of the main tourist spots.
I have just seen how many times I have described my experience as 'amazing' but I am not going to change what I've written!!9 -
Well it sounds amazing. 😂. Glad you had such a fantastic time and that you feel "all fired up" and raring to go.
Look forward to hearing more when you have had time digest it all..😉.9
