Hello Lovelies
Champagne moments.............walking around Margate and discovering a real old fashioned book shop, sitting on the beach in the freezing cold but enjoying the blast of freshness, just being with my family. My 9 year old niece patiently trying to teach me to knit !
Went to see 'Parasite' the much talked about oscar winning film. It's a week later and I still don't know what I feel. I wish it hadn't been so hyped up !
It was in an old Deco cinema, beautiful, tickets a whopping £4.50 ! What was really lovely is that it was just me and Mum. rarely get to spend time just the two of us. I class this as an uber champagne moment.
My niece needed new school coat, she is growing so fast. I had a M&S gift card value £30.00 and was praying that it would be enough. Low and behold there were only a few left but found one in her size with a little growing room not the miles of extra growth room that my Mum insisted on when we were young. £28.00 reduced to £19.70.............yippeeeeee
to one and all, have a lovely day..........

Growing room.......😂. My secondary school blazer served me for 4 years!!!
Still windy but at least it's stopped raining.
Love TedTalks. They definitely give me a boost when I need one.
Nyped up films are usually quite quite disappointing aren't they. I like the slow burners, the ones that just sort of sneak in when you're not looking. They seem to be the ones that are really fabulous. And of course (personal bug bear of mine) the critics can be such a pretentious lot. I did film studies as part of my degree........gawd I had to wade through some absolute drivel both on screen and the critics comments. So much academic snobbery.
Maybe it's just me.......maybe I'm just a pleb.😂.
Champagne moments today will be family around me, feasting, good conversation and playing with my grandson.
Candy thanks for recommending Flesh and Blood......binged watched 4 episodes last night. Loved it.10 -
Good Afternoon Lovelies,
I hope you are all well.Just reading back a little. (A displacement activity, as I should be working).
Champagne moment yesterday lasted all day!My friend had booked us onto an art class at the museum. It is only £3 for a session , and yesterday's session was wire work. I really enjoyed it, and ended up with a pretty wreath made out of copper wire. I am all enthusiasm and no skill, so I was really happy that the tutor was complimentary about my efforts 😎
My friend had a call from her daughter while we were there, offering her 2 comp tickets for a play. As her OH did not want to go, she asked me! So, we met up again in the evening to watch a play about Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplain........really good! Try to see it if it tours your way.
Thanks to my lovely friend we had a fab day. I did all the driving, and was also glad I had got us free tickets to see Military Wives on Monday, so I hope she feels I have made a contribution too.
Have a lovely week 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)8 -
Hi LL,
yes my coats lasted years. I remember that I wanted a particular one from C&A so Mum made me save for half of it. Once I had done that she paid for all of it. She just wanted to teach me about saving and to see how much I really wanted it. And to appreciate it.
I have heard so much about Ted Talks. Am guessing I just need google it ?
As to 'films' and critics I remember 'Road to Perdition' being panned (Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law). I watched it anyway and at the time felt it was one of the best films I had ever seen. Even though Hanks was not one you would immediately chose for this role. Still think it is a great film. And I thought he drove and held the film together. His acting was masterful in it's quiet intensity.
Big Mwah !

Hello
Yes, Westgate. I had a good look at their tiles and to me they are art nouveau but it's always described as deco. Isn't it a wonderful cinema ? The prices are so reasonable which helps my Mum with my nieces (three generational household, learning disabled brother, rubbish pensions, long story).
When my parents had to leave the suburbs of London to downsize financially I took them to Ramsgate to stay and then to Westgate, at the time my most favourite place. Begging them to consider moving anywhere in the area. I have now come to love all of it and am looking forward to one day having the time to wander through all the villages.
When I was standing on that freezing cold beach I had such a strong sense of belonging and I wonder at that as we have no ties to Kent. I just feel at home. And I felt it the first time I was there 15/20 years ago before all the regeneration.
My family would never live up here again. The girls have the beach in the summer which is still a wonder to them. My parents are at home now and love it there. It has only been 3/4 years but it's as if they have always been there. They chose a house in Westbrook, equidistant from Margate and Westgate. I am so jealous and so lucky because I get to visit.
Dad opened a shop (he is now 80) and although I am sure he barely scrapes by it allowed him to make friends. Mum makes friends with everyone so we were never worried about her.
Haven't been to the Broadstairs cinema yet...........on the list !

Some of my family live in the Margate area. I had to go on a school trip to Westgate, wow, that was about 30 years ago now.7 -
I bought myself some new silver necklaces for my upcoming birthday. I really like them even though they weren't expensive or anything. I'm wearing one of them today.
I have gained some weight on the medication I'm on and I am trying to make sure that I make an effort with my outfits, makeup and jewellery so I don't feel too bad about it.
I'm listening to a podcast at the moment and when it ends I am going to start my new book on meditation. It's called Bliss More by Light Watkins. I have some pink roses in my living room at the moment as well to cheer me up. I want to get some more scented candles as I am down to my last one.

Hello my lovely friends.
Glorious day here, bright and sunny and definitely warmer now that Storm Jorge has passed. I'm just about set for my Scottish adventure, bed stripped, house cleaned. Will pack tomorrow and head off on Wednesday.
Had a wonderful afternoon yesterday. Lots of champagne moments with my family. My grandson was a scream.....he's just starting with the tantrums and oh my, what a drama queen. Must be his hot Latin blood. 😂. He's easily deflected of course so his rage passes quickly and then he's all sweetness and sunshine again, smothering everyone with hugs and kisses, singing away whilst he amuses himself playing with his toys. I have a box of toys here so every time he comes it's like he's got a load of new toys to play with. Stops him from getting bored. 😂. He adores my house. I just close off the access to the top bedroom so then there are no stairs, steps or hazards to worry about. He trots around from room to room, exploring, laughing and giggling and getting more and more excited.
Poor DIL has started with nausea and sickness already, hope it's not going to be another rough pregnancy. She has my sympathy, I can empathise. I was just the same with both my pregnancies and I'm guessing she will probably need another Caesarian. What we women put with.........
If men had babies I bet they would have found a way to make things easier......either that or most children would be only children. 😂🤣.
Hey ho, we will all muck in together to try and make things easier for her. Luckily her employers are very supportive and even if I say so myself, my son is ace. My DIL often thanks me for training him so well. 😂. She adores her dad of course but she freely admits that Latino men don't help their womenfolk very much. Her mum and her sisters have been astonished to see how much British men do around the house, how supportive they are. Apparently Latino men are still rather macho and have a lot to learn.
Wednesday - sorry to hear your medication is making you gain weight. Such a shame, you did so well to lose it. Will it stabilise do you think. But yes, good idea to try to make the best of yourself so it doesn't drag you down too much. I have regained roughly half a stone....no real excuse. I won't be able to do much about it next week whilst I'm away but I'm aiming to get back on track when I get back. Hopefully now that spring is on its way it will be easier.
I have also decided it's about time I came out of my winter hibernation ....🤣. So I have started filling up my diary again, booked a few Meet Ups and outings with friends for after my trip.
Time to start socialising again.......
