That's fantastic news. Hope you both get a chance to have a good rest now. You must both be exhausted. Hopefully the weather will improve soon and it will be warm enough for your husband to sit in the garden and soak up some sun as part of his recuperation.luxor4t said:I have everything crossed that my much anticipated champagne moment will actually happen today.....
After two stalled attempts, I think DH will finally be discharged from hospital today, after 28 days, and still with the foot we feared he would have to lose.
After weeks of spending two and a half hours a day on a bus going to/from the hospital, I am sad to say I am really looking forward to having to stay home. And after ten days on a ward without the chance to sleep properly, he is too. (The other men in his bay were very unsettled and confused at night).
Thank God for the NHS.I am a great believer in sunshine.....it works minor miracles.7 -
Definitely agree about letter writing, LL
Back in January I sent a card with a handwritten letter to an old school friend whom I last saw several years ago. We've always exchanged Christmas cards but had lost contact via email etc and now live about 200 miles apart. I enclosed my current email address and heard back from her almost immediately. She's been having a very tough time one way or another so it felt really good to have been able to bring a little sunshine into her life. Another champagne moment
Some other friends - who we actually originally met through eBay about twelve years ago - sent us a card checking we were ok a while back....so lovely in these electronic times!
Today's champagne moments included baking a delicious chocolate cake using up all sorts of random ingredients and enjoying a cosy supper by the wood burner with my DH, followed by watching an episode of Endeavour......

I had an idea, which I think will give me some champagne moments and also possibly help others a bit, but could I ask all your lovely ladies' opinions to see if there's an unintended consequence I haven't thought of?
My idea is that for the duration of this awful situation I start doing all my grocery shopping at Marks & Spencers! I can comfortably afford to do this for a few months (due to normally being an Asda Smartprice girl!) and my thinking is that by buying my food at a cost that would be unaffordable to some, I'm allowing someone else to buy the Smartprice goods which are in short supply - whilst being a really luxurious treat for me...what do you think?7 -
Why not, if you can afford to.Skibunny40 said:I had an idea, which I think will give me some champagne moments and also possibly help others a bit, but could I ask all your lovely ladies' opinions to see if there's an unintended consequence I haven't thought of?

I just checked my Ocado delivery (for Monday) and you can't access the website until Saturday due to such high demand. I am going to see what my local shops are like in a minute. I am a bit edgy about going out but I need to pick up my medication.
I am trying to see this period of semi isolation as a chance to catch up with all the things I haven't done over the past few months. 60 books on my kindle!
I have a made a list of things I want to do. Checking out Emotional Freedom Technique is something I have meant to do for a while.
I am going to thoroughly clean the living room floor later and get out my yoga mat and do some stretching.2025 GOALS

Very kind of you 👏 & I think that random acts of kindness will be the thing that makes life bearable. My DSis gave a stash of no longer required female hygiene products to the young lady next door. Made her day & items not wasted.Skibunny40 said:I had an idea, which I think will give me some champagne moments and also possibly help others a bit, but could I ask all your lovely ladies' opinions to see if there's an unintended consequence I haven't thought of?

I agree. Depending on your circumstances.I think it depends on how many people you are cooking for, if it's one or two then I don't think M&S is particularly expensive, obviously if you are cooking for a family then their ready meals might be pushing it a bit. But last time I made a comparison I discovered that basic ingredients such as meat and fish etc were no more expensive than Asda or Sainsburys. They did the 3 for £10 on meat, just the same.Champagne moments - my son popping in for brunch. He has been laid off from work this morning so he popped in for a "council of War" and some sage advice from Mum, his "Concillari". I must admit it's rather nice to know that our kids still value our advice and input. We've drawn up a battle plan and he went away well fed, happy and positive.Well....that's what we parents do isn't it. 😂
I'm off for a walk now, to get some fresh air and exercise. Maybe have half an hour in the garden when I get back. Then cook a nice supper and curl up with my book and the tv.6 -
LL I've been talking to Mum, n She's made herself a little picnic, n is gonna drive to the beach, stay in the car, n self isolate in her own unique way
I won't ask her advice about this, as She'll only rant , n say I'm over reacting:(
