    Hello everyone.

Still not feeling so hot, but trying to manage a few champagne moments. Books, films, Simple pleasures.

Watched the film Fisherman's Friends last night. I saw it at the cinema and loved it and noticed it was on Amazon Prime (free) so watched it again.

It is a lovely sweet little film and based on a true story about a group of fisherman from Port Isaac who sing in a choir and get talent spotted by some hot shot London record producer. There's a nice little romantic sub plot of course.

Whilst I love a Hollywood blockbuster I do have a particular fondness for quirky little indie films, especially when they have witty scripts and understated Brit humour.

Anyway today I managed to haul myself off the sofa and drag myself round Asda for some much needed groceries. (I chose Asda because they have loos and Aldi don't). I won't go into detail but let's just say It was a wise decision.:rotfl:

So I am back home.....where I can remain in close proximity to the bathroom. I doubt I shall risk going anywhere for a few days until I'm certain I'm free of this wretched virus.

Needless to say I'm very frustrated and very fed up.:(. There's lots I would like to be doing but realistically I'm just not up to it. Hopefully not much longer.....

Never mind I've cheered myself up with a bunch of deep red roses and some scented candles which were reduced.

Bala......sounds like you had a great night.

Julia.....bargain mince pies. What's not to like.

As you say....Little things.....but they can mean such a lot.

Still here, still struggling....:rotfl: but I think I might have turned a corner at last. Slept for a full 9 hours straight last night. I obviously needed it.

Lovely day here - might pop in the garden for a few minutes. Pull out a few weeds and get a bit of fresh air.

Not made any plans for the weekend. Will play it by ear.

Have a great weekend y'all. Hugs to the poorly ones.

Morning all. Hope everyone who is feeling poorly feels a bit perkier today :)

I'm full of cold and my OH has the tummy bug so we are all lurgied up in our house. Need to put a cross on the door.

My champagne moment yesterday was a lovely meal out with friends, good food, wine and chatter. First time I've been out of the house since New Year's Eve (broken leg) so did me the world of good to get out.

    Have a fabulous weekend :)
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Oh Lordy Sun Addict....sorry to hear about your broken leg, Ouch. Glad to hear you are managing to get out and about.

Still not 100% but do feel a bit perkier at last. Not before time, it's been nearly 3 weeks now.

Not much news and nothing exciting happening. Last nights wonderful full Wolf Moon was my high spot yesterday. Never mind the only way is up.........:rotfl:

Well it's nearly half way through January already and I am nowhere on my challenge. It's been firmly on the back burner, due to illness. However, yesterday I did make a start on some decluttering and I am now back on weight watchers. So I guess I can call that a start. Today is more of the same.......healthy eating and decluttering. Might even try some yoga.

Hope the poorly ones are picking up now....,.

    Have a great weekend y'all.

    Good morning everyone.

Hi Bala....thanks for your concern. Wasn't going to post today because I've not really got much news ...nothing much happening, but just for you. ;)

Well after a couple of days doing practically nothing but sleep, rest and potter about, reading and watching a bit of tv I am pleased to say I think I have finally beaten the virus into submission. I feel quite human today. :rotfl: a mass of aches and pains but that's a sign I need to move more so today I'm aiming to do a short walk before it rains (again!!) and then try a bit of yoga.

Is anyone else sick of the rain.......my garden flooded again and alas there's still more forecast......Oh well it won't last forever......spring is just round the corner.

Speaking of which one of my champagne moments was noticing that all of the bulbs I planted a couple of weeks ago are starting to pop up. We think everything is dead out there but Mother Nature is just resting, biding her time, waiting to blossom forth soon. Like me.....I'm just resting, gearing up for my challenge. :rotfl:

Whilst I didn't really feel like it I did force myself to do some loft tidying the other day and make a start on the attic bedroom. There's a lot to clear but at least I've got it into neat and tidy sections now so I can deal with it one bit at a time. Not exactly a champagne moment but satisfying none the less. It's going to take several tip runs.....and then there's the shed.:rotfl: Never mind, it will get done.

And ......a mini win.....I'm back on WW and have lost 2lbs already. Wahoo. Always a champagne moment when I see those scales registering a little loss. My target is to lose 11lbs by Easter. Should be doable.

Socially Ive done nothing.....just not well enough but I've booked a couple of outings for the next couple of weeks, the first is scheduled for Wednesday, so keeping my fingers crossed I'm ok for that. And apparently my DIL is in the process of booking a trip to take me to London to the theatre in February. Bless her heart.

So......not really made any headway on the challenge. I think we can consider January a bit of a write off. I used to have a lovely neighbour who was adamant that January was not a good month to make radical life changes or go on a diet. She used to say it was setting ourselves up for failure, she reckoned we just needed to coast through January and then get cracking in February.

    So I'm taking her advice......

    I can't believe it's the 13th today......where does the time go.

BTW. Has anyone read the book "Yes Man". There's also a film starring Jim Carey. Apparently Carey read the book, loved it and as well as seeing its comic potential it resonated with his own personal ethos of positive thinking so he bought the rights and turned it into a film., collaborating with the author. Watched it the other night. Funny.

I adore Jim Carey, I think he's a comic genius but he is also quite a serious man and a deep thinker. I can recommend his motivational videos. Very uplifting.

I tend to watch quite a few motivational videos, especially when I feel I need a kick up the derrière....my favourites are Matthew McConnachy, Denzel Washington and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger, who when he mildly heckled by an audience member when he was talking about sleep, came back with an immortal response.

Arnie was saying he slept about 6 hrs. A member of the audience took him to task saying it wasn't enough, it should be nearer 8 hours ....Arnie just laughed it off and said "Sleep Faster".

You gotta love that man ........

Great news that you are feeling better. And on the weight loss.

    I LOVE January.

My birthday month but mostly it's the quiet after the Chritmas/New Year run. I always feel that the earth is working manically away to promote growth and birth.

I love the quiet which is why I always love the first day of snow. Everything goes quiet.

January, a time for reflection, a time for plotting new challenges which I probably won't start until February so agree with not starting in January. Need time to work out schedule of works re challenges. January is perfect for that.
