Sorry to hear you're not feeling any better. I've just started with the aching and sore throat unfortunately. Weather is just awful today. On the fresh flowers subject, I usually buy mine from Lidl for about £2 and they last ages.

Naw. Thanks hon. Just don't feel good at all, no energy. So frustrating, I just want to get cracking but can't.....oh well, as you say use the time to dream, scheme and plot. :rotfl:

Tbh. There's nothing spoiling, nothing that can't wait, I'm just impatient is all.

Anyway nice healthy low cost dinner tonight. Doing really well with the food budget this month, eating from stocks and making full use of leftovers. Aiming for a couple of really super frugal months so I can both pay the decorator and still have a holiday.

Told you I was greedy and wanted it all.....:rotfl:

Got a three month offer for David Lloyd's pushed through the door. I might check it out, see how much it is. It's a nice gym with a lovely pool and a nice "spa" bit. I don't want to commit to a full 12 months at this stage so I might see what's on offer.

I could do with an incentive to help me get fitter......:rotfl:
  • Hello ladies (and gents, not sure if we have any of those but all are welcome of course!)

I'm just back after a couple of nights away, had a fab time but am really feeling it having eaten and drunk far too much unhealthy stuff! I got back at lunchtime today, and have unpacked, put a couple of washes on and done the weekly meal plan and shop. Have only spent around £20 on that as we have stuff in the freezer so that's all good. My weekend spends were around £160, which wasn't too bad. I managed to get a valet parking deal at the airport the night before I travelled which cost me less than a one way taxi fare so I was very happy with that. I'm going to write a review for it; I rarely do that but I always depend on reviews when I am buying anything, so I really need to make the effort to do more of them myself! Have left a few Amazon reviews this afternoon to get me started.

I've had an expensive few weeks - Christmas was more or less budgeted for, so that was ok, but I spent more on food than I thought I would. I've also treated myself to a few things lately - a docking station and screen so my eyes don't get so sore using my laptop, lots of books, clothes (as I couldn't fit into my jeans... :o ) and also a new Fitbit as my old one (which had been really cheap and lasted me about three years) just stopped working. I put some Christmas money towards the fitbit and I'm pleased I replaced it - I did wait a few weeks to decide whether I really needed it and I did - and I upgraded from the Flex to the Charge 2.

Back to work tomorrow, and I haven't done everything that was on my list for the holidays but I have done a lot. I really need to start focusing on what I do achieve rather than what I don't - and being kinder to myself. The world needs more kindness!

LL - hope you feel better soon. The gym thing sounds interesting; I am going to up my fitness game this year, but on the cheap at home! I had a membership to a gym with lovely facilities for about a year and only went a handful of times :o

Back to work tomorrow....booo....but I do need to get back into a routine!

    Good morning everyone.....

Oh dear this sounds like such a whinge....but I'm still not feeling that great. My ribs hurt from all the coughing. :rotfl: hey ho, it will pass.

In the meantime I'm keeping warm and cosy and trying to use my time constructively in between naps and little rests. I did actually manage to walk to the library and shops this morning before the rain set in so some progress.

It's just frustrating when I want to get cracking and really get to grips with my change my life challenge. Never mind. A week or two won't make much difference in the grand scheme of things. One thing is for sure being out of action like this makes me more determined than ever to put health and fitness at the very heart of all I do this year. It's going straight to the top of my agenda.

Weighed myself this morning. Stayed the same, so I'm happy enough with that. I have set myself until Easter to lost 12lbs. Should be doable.

Doing very well with the money diet. Everything going to budget and well on track to have a very frugal month so I can bump up the savings. I have only spent £7 on food so far since New Year so actually living on £1 a day.:rotfl: That won't be sustainable long term of course because I'm using up stocks and they will obviously need replenishing at some point. Although having said that the freezer and cupboards are Still pretty full. But I'm hoping that a couple of really frugal months will help me boost my savings again.

I worked out that I want/need to find around £2k to pay the decorator and fund my Iceland trip without raiding my savings. So that's my money mission, save fir the biggies but still do the fun stuff.

So I'm slashing the unnecessary spending. No more Amazon bargains, no clothes, and reducing the food spending. Also, when I'm feeling better, sell some of my clutter.

Car booked for its MOT next Friday week. Fingers crossed.

Mrs Slapshot .....Like you I have joined gyms in the past for a year and then ended up getting bored and not used them, that's why I though this 3 month thing might be worth a try. I need to investigate it properly though....I dont want to overcommit myself.

Anyway for the time being my champagne moments will have to be of the cosy domestic Hygge variety - at least until I have got rid of this lurgy. :rotfl:

    Afternoon all!

Minor champagne moment today...went to M&S and they have their sale on...got a GORGEOUS pair of cords for less than half price...ankle-grazer in length which means they fit a short-!!!! like me perfectly!!!! I am so tired of buying new trousers and even a 'short' length has to be taken up an inch or so!...even better is the fact that I can go and buy stuff off the rails in shops...REAL champagne moment there, I don't know when that'll stop feeling so good! (For those who don't know I have gone from 5XL+ down to....well in M&S it is a 16/18...other stores vary)

Sitting here with the heating on...it is FREEZING today...and the meds I take seem to make me feel the cold even more....just waiting for Mum to arrive and we will have a mug of the good coffee and a chocolate each (still eating our way through the bargain Hotel Chocolat box we got on offer before Christmas.

Half way through doing the dusting of the bookshelves...always a bit of a long job...all the books get taken of one shelf...I decide which go back and which go to the recycle box (either I give them to someone I know, or they go to the Charity Shop) before I dust and replace them and move on to the next shelf....I need to fond a bit more space on the shelves to accommodate new arrivals at Christmas.
  • I really feel for you LL. I had pneumonia a couple of years ago and coughed so hard I cracked a rib  Do take care. I was advised to hug a cushion tight when I coughed to take the pressure off my muscles. It did seem to work.

    Get well soon.

Ooh thanks for the cushion tip. Cracked ribs from coughing sounds funny but it's probably awful. It happened to a friend of mine too.

Popping in for a quick hello.

Hope you're starting to feel better LL - I went down with the lurgy on Boxing Day, and didn't actually leave the boat for 11 days :(. Meant however, I had a good frugal end/start to the year.

Been to have my hair cut today and called in to see Mum (first time this year), who took me out for a lovely lunch and bought me a bunch of flowers. Proper champagne moment, no cost to me at all :).

Looking forward to getting to know you all, now that the silly season is over, and life is getting back to normal
