Not been the best Christmas for me as I was hit by a car whilst crossing the road on my way to work on Friday 13th December, broke my leg, split my head open and have assorted cuts and bruises, all healing well thankfully.
Oh my goodness.xxx:grouphug:lessonlearned wrote: »Wednesday......I'm glad you are still with us. You have been such a good friend to me, so kind and generous. I am glad you are feeling better. Take care my dear friend, onwards and upwards.
I've been doing a lot of thinking these last few days. So many of us had a difficult decade but we've come through it. I won't say unscathed because adversity does change us. It takes a toll not just on our physical health but also our mental and emotional well being.
How could adversity not change is, we are the sum of our experiences, our experiences hone us and make us what we are.
I know I have changed, I found hidden depths and strengths I didn't know I possessed. If you had told me way back in 2005 that I would take on the dragons that I had to battle with I would have laughed in your face.
What Moi. Nah. That's not me, I can't do that. But, I rose to the challenge and I conquered. I astonished not only my family but also myself. I was smart yes, but I was also a bit of a butterfly and something of an airhead. To this day I don't know how I got through it but I dug deep and somehow found the wherewithal to see it through.
But it did change me and not everyone liked the change or could cope with the new me. It caused problems with my relationships with some of my family members who couldn't deal with my new found strength and assertiveness. But I eventually came to the conclusion that that was their problem, not mine. I had bigger fish to fry than worry about how people perceived me or whether they liked me. And whilst I was saddened that they couldn't support the new me I understood that it was because they were frightened and felt left behind.
But that's what happens when we change. Not everyone will be routing for us, there will be people who don't want us to grow, evolve and achieve our goals. It makes them feel threatened or inadequate.
Change is always difficult. In order to change we have to step out of our comfort zone and take risks. Sometimes taking the steps necessary to effect change requires a huge leap of faith. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump in, keeping your fingers crossed and hope in your heart.
Aw, thanks. You are very right about adversity and how it changes us as people.xxxsugarbaby125 wrote: »My daughter was able to keep water down yesterday, so she has made a small improvement.

Maybe worth trying some of those re-hydrating sachets might help once she's stopped vomiting. Constant vomiting depletes our reserves of potassium.1 -
Good Afternoon Peeps,
I seem to have mislaid yesterday's post 🙄.
I am in awe of people planning, and making lists of goals and projects......For some reason, this new year, I have lost my mojo.
The 20 20 challenge looks interesting, but every time I think about all those lists, I just feel overwhelmed! :rotfl:
DH has taken DMiL to the Doctors today. I have hitched a lift and I have had a wander around Resorts World. No bargains.......I have retreated up to the Sky Bar in one of the hotels, for a pot of tea........it is only £2 and the view is fabulous, so this is today's Champagne Moment
Have a lovely Day1 -
Afternoon
Borrowed my OH's mobility scooter to get to the hairdressers today. Feel so much better now my hair is cut and tidy again. Booked my next appointment for 6 weeks and it made me happy to think my cast will be off by then. Small pleasures and the things we take for grantedI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -
My champagne moment yesterday was a spa day with my 2 lovely daughters at the gym in town (crow wood) voted top spa a few times! As me and one daughter are members half price for us. We loved the facilities, even a quiet darkened room with small pool, luxurious beds and little lamps for reading. Finished off the day in the Lounge for early dinner using a 20% off voucher I had . We must make it a regular event1

Good morning Everyone
Good to see you managed to get out Sun Addict. Must be very frustrating for you.Hopefully your leg is mending well.
House elf......I looked at the 2020 thread too. As you say some interesting ideas. I agree 20 challenges is perhaps a lot to take on board in one go. Perhaps you could view them as guidelines and just pick out a couple for now. There's no point in becoming overwhelmed. Just take it easy and go at your own pace. I am sure your mojo will return.
Sheila - your spa day sounds lovely.
Fabulous champagne moments last night......my DIL and I finally managed our girly night out. Dinner at Wagamama's (nice healthy Japanese style food) followed by a trip to the cinema to see Last Christmas. Yes it was cheesy and sentimental, but that's what Christmas films are all about and of course a great sound track of George Michael songs.
Well it looks like a nice day. I've had a great sleep and feel good. Looking forward to the New Year ahead.1 -
My Champagne moment today was taking receipt of my new microwave.
As the inside of my old microwave had started to deteriorate over the last few months, I was uneasy about continuing to use it.
I did my research and in the end I got a similar model to the old model from my J D Williams catalogue for £68.99 which was reduced from £79.99 saving me £11.I paid for it in full on my debit card.
I am planning to cook more from scratch in 2020. So in order to be prepared I bought myself a 14 piece cook and storage Pyrex set. I have long wanted to own a set like it and I bought it from Groupon on 22nd December when it was reduced in price. Now I also have the new microwave to reheat my own home cooked meals.
When the Pyrex set arrived on Christmas Eve I was absolutely delighted with it and I have been using parts of it since Christmas Day.1 -
Well, after saying I don't need anything in the sales I went and bought new slippers and a new dress. The soles were coming adrift from the uppers on my old slippers and the dress is for a family wedding in the summer. I also got most of next year's birthday presents in the Boots sale.
I got my postponed Boxing Day walk on Sunday, which was mild and dry here with just enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousers. I went to the local beach, then along to the big town on the sand, and bussed it home. There were lots of families enjoying the day, lots of dogs and even a couple swimming in the sea. I was not tempted but may take a towel and have a paddle when the weather gets warmer.
Happy New year everyone.!Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget1 -
Happy New Year Everyone......
Wishing you all joy, success, health and happiness (with maybe a bit of wealth too):rotfl: Hope you all have a wonderful year.
Last nights family celebrations were fab, I had a great time. Today I'm just going to relax and take things easy. Start thinking about and planning the challenges I am going to set myself.
But nothing too strenuous today.......:D1 -
Happy New Year to you all.
I am glad to see the back of 2019,
Enjoy the first day of 2020 everyone1
