Good morning and Happy Boxing Day
I was going to have a long walk today but it is pouring down here, so after a lie in I'm having a lazy day in pjs catching up on here, watching TV and listening to radio.
I spent yesterday with DDS1 and his family, lovely meal and felt very spoilt with my presents.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and enjoyed lots of champagne moments, with real champagne or otherwise. LL, I hope you are better, and were able to enjoy the food again, Wednesday, I hope you recover fully from the panic attacks.
I'm ignoring all the advertisements for sales or on line. I'm telling myself that I don't need anything new, but I may be tempted at the weekend to look for birthday and Christmas presents for next year.
Counting my blessings, as an elderly aunt used to say of a warm flat, enough to eat and the companionship of family and friends.
Going to put away the laptop now, make some plans in old fashioned notebooks and enjoy some nature programmes on tv.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget1 -
OMG, my washing machine broke Christmas Eve night and then the smoke alarms all went off Christmas morning as they all ran out of batteries at the same time! Luckily we had spare batteries and the new washing machine is being delivered Saturday. I am having to wash some things like tea towels by hand until then. *Sigh*
Oh well, I still enjoyed the meal I cooked yesterday. We sat down and watched the film Angel has Fallen afterwards. It was really good, I thought.
My husband is going round to his Mum's for a meal today. I am staying in and just doing some housework. I vacuumed and cleaned the floor and then put away the Christmas decorations. I like getting back to normal as soon as possible after Christmas.:D
I am going to sit down and watch Friends. I have obviously seen it before but I have been watching the whole series the past few months and I'm nearly at the end. I took a Chinese takeaway meal out of the freezer and will make some rice to go with it later so a nice easy meal after cooking yesterday.
I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday.:Amrs_slapshot wrote: »Wednesday - well done on the panic attack reduction! I have experienced something similar, not at all nice and very worrying so I'm glad your situation has improved.ancientmum wrote: »Wednesday, I hope you recover fully from the panic attacks.
Thanks guys.xxx1 -
OH it sounds like you have had a few issues there Wednesday
I hope you managed to get a good price for your washing machine in the sales
I have put my washing machine on today, for the first time in about a week it seems, the large linen basket is overflowing - and it is just the two of us these days.
God knows how we got into a state
Lovely day here yesturday. Obviously little un was missed - but he sounded very jovial when I spoke to him, so all well
Hubby treated me to some absolutely georgeous perfume I have been eyeing up. It really is a touch of luxury - and smells divine
We had a very non traditional Christmas lunch and slobbed about. Heaven
Today hubby is back at work and I am playing my instrument for most of the day and get practising for this gig I am going to in ten days - other than the odd break to faff about on here
I hope you are all doing exactly what you want today - whether it be traditional or climbing trees naked covered in whipped cream - I hope you are having funThe opposite of what you know...is also true1 -

Good Morning Dears,
Well, it's Friday already, and I have not been keeping up with my Champagne Moments......I think that is probably a good thing.
Christmas Day.........lots and lots, but the very best, was when DS1, full of Christmas dinner and very tiddly, came to sit on the sofa with me. It was like rolling back 20 years of grumpy 20 something and rebellious teenager, to my lovely little boy. I was frightened to move, to break that magic moment..........then he and his gf went off to a birthday party.
Boxing Day......Emptied 14 dresses out of the wardrobe to make room for Christmas present frocks. (My change in job roll, make most of the styles obsolete). Put them straight onto Ebay and had 2 bids by bedtime :j
I hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas.....I was so focussed on Christmas Day, it feels like I have fallen off a cliff! I need to start making some lists......
Have a lovely day1 -
My Champagne moments over Christmas were all about enjoying the festive season with my younger daughter and my son.
I have encouraged my son to eat big meals and to snack throughout the day and evening as he is a naturally thin person, but since he went to University he has lost weight he could ill afford to lose.Even after only being at home since 16th December he has begun to fill out a little.
It was great to sit around the table to eat on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with my son and daughter. They loved both dinners. They liked the table being set with a tablecloth and I could drink wine with them as I had bought low alcohol wine which I can enjoy with them.
We were all cosy and warm with a Housing Association home that has no major defects to live in. :j All of the cupboards and the fridge freezer were full of our favourite foods and we did not have to worry about doing without.1 -
Sugarbaby, that brought tears to my eyes - the perfect description of what this time of year should be all about.
We have done the same, and although I am worn out it has been wonderful!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.1 -
Hello Everyone
Loving your descriptions of your champagne moments over Christmas, such wonderful warm thoughts.
I sometimes skim through the threads on the Discussion board and I have to say I find some of them so depressing, so full of keyboard warriors, expressing bitterness, envy, hatred, bile, greed and avarice, so much playing the blame game and the politics of envy.
So it is wonderful to hear that so many of us on this thread are happy with life's simple pleasures and are capable of experiencing the true joy and meaning of Christmas. It's like balm to the soul.
I don't believe we have to be believers either. I am not a person of faith. I don't feel we have to be religious or practising Christians to appreciate the warmth and love of gathering in with our family, exchanging gifts and sharing good food and good times.
I believe it's all about love and caring........
I too have had a wonderful time, gathering my family close about me, feasting, having fun, exchanging thoughtful gifts and just spending time together. The world of work can be hard and we all need time and space to withdraw to the bosom of our families. There is a lot to be said for the virtues of hearth and home.
My Christmases are much quieter these days without my husband. He was such a party animal it was non stop for around 3 weeks but I still enjoy the festive season of goodwill, peace and happiness.1 -

LL I totally agree. I was having a little wander through forum the other day. Not the same atmosphere on some threads.
My Champagne moment yesterday was having an Indian takeaway delivered for me, DH and DD. Using a promo code. It was half price :j
The decluttering has continued. More EBaying has produced 2 bags for the CS. We also returned 6 chairs to our friends and stayed for a cup of tea.
A nice day, but nothing majorly achieved.
Have a lovely day1 -
Good morning......a nice leisurely morning, long soak in the bath, facial, pedicure and a healthy hearty brunch. There will be some more nice champagne moments later today.
This afternoon I am meeting DIL and we are off to see "Last Christmas" for her belated Birthday treat. We were going to eat out but have decided that neither of us really fancy a big meal, we will save that for another time. Tummy still not entirely happy.
I did weigh myself yesterday.:rotfl: I'll need to get back on the wagon soon..
