    Hope you're feeling better, LL.

I'm celebrating my ultimate champagne moment, or to confess, ultimate impulse buy - a new car! It's a pre-reg Corsa, complete with all the fancy bits like heated seats.

My older car will be passed to DD as we've worried about her driving around in a really old car. That's my excuse anyway.

PS. I'm not really a newbie.

My parents gifted me my mum's old car as they would only have got £70 trade in (it was 8 years younger than my unreliable heap of junk - that I got more in scrap value) by the time I had had it a few months my mum's health was declining rapidly and her old car meant I was able to visit daily after work, and give my dad a break on my days off, and get my car less brother to visit around his work shifts. My old car was dead, and the new to me car meant I could support my family at a difficult time, and me and my brother were able to be there for mums last few hours. At the end of the day that gift of a replaced car was priceless!!

My aunt used to say ...."Wash on New Years Day, Wash A Life Away".......so no I never do any laundry on New Years Day either. :rotfl:

My other little quirk is that for NYE the house has to be cleaned from top to bottom......something about starting the year with a clean house and starting as you mean to go on - setting the bench mark for the year to come.

Wednesday...glad the panic attacks have gone....not nice. I had them when I was first widowed.....I just couldnt envisage my future, it just looked so bleak and I didn't know how I would cope so had nasty panic attacks. Luckily they passed fairly quickly but they were quite scary at the time.

Fingers crossed.....I think I am starting to feel a lot better, tummy still feels a bit "gurgly" but definitely improving. I hope So because I am supposed to be going out for afternoon tea tomorrow. Don't want to miss that, it's a real gathering of the clans in a dead posh hotel so should be fun.

Sillyvixen....funny how things have a habit of working out isn't it. Your parents gifting you the car was a godsend really.

Well I have been resting, reading, thinking and planning. Really looking forward now to my next challenge. It occurred to me today, that not only are we coming up to new year, it's also a new decade. How exciting. A time for change........and pushing the boat out......upping the ante and taking a few risks.

It could be my last decade.:rotfl:

Gotta make the most of it;):D

    Hello Lovelies :)

I am back for the hols, and will try to catch up, but I hope you are all keeping well.

Yesterday's Champagne moment, was standing in the garden, realising it was Monday, and it was daylight! ...........I have been to work and come home from work in the dark for so many weeks, I probably need Vitamin D supplements :rotfl: I only usually see daylight at the weekend!

Have a lovely Christmas Eve :)
  • :xmastree:Merry Christmas Everyone :xmastree:
  • I'm absolutely snorting and coughing with a cold! I rarely get colds and now when I'll be busy! Typical.

Have a lovely day tomorrow, everyone. :xmastree::xmassmile
  • Thanks guys! xxxxx:smileyhea

I have been decluttering again and have another three bags made up for the charity shop. I had a shock as I tried on the black wrap dress I was going to wear Christmas day and it is too big. That will be donated.

I want to be very organised in 2020. I have already put away the monthly £600 in savings so I have a head start on the new year. I want to order all the flea treatment and worm treatment for my pets for the whole year as well. I think I am going to start feeding my dogs a mix of dry and wet food. They only have wet food at the moment but giving them a mixture will save us some money throughout the year.

I just had a pampering session in a lavender oil bath with my scented candle.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas whatever you are doing.

That is exactly what my Gran used to say. I still abide by it now

I am glad it is not just my family that say this haha

I do the whole 'start as you mean to go on' thing too

On NYE, hubby will be at work all day so I will use that as my cleaning day. Oh so glam, mop and bucket hahaha

The merriest of Christmases to all xx

Christmas is now under way at Chateau Nargle. Lights are on, TV on in the background (Pioneer Woman and Jamie Oliver on the Food Network Channel giving me inspiration for festive cooking, Escape to the Chateau for a bit of escapism), animals snoozing contentedly. It's dark now so I will soon have my next Champagne moment - taking the dog for a quick walk round the block to look at the neighbourhood Christmas lights.

Dinner today will probably be a simple omelette to use up some of my egg stash, then just nibbly things through the evening, together with a shot of home made liqueur - shall I have orange brandy, elderberry vodka, blackberry whisky? That's another Champagne moment, enjoying a liqueur that you made yourself for a fraction of what it would cost to buy.

Merry Christmas and lots of Champagne moments to one and all.

  • Good morning and a Merry Christmas to all! Sounds like some fabulous, simple champagne moments have been had so far this Christmas!

Just popping on as I didn't get chance to post yesterday - lovely to see so many new posters on here

LL - hope you're feeling better now?

Wednesday - well done on the panic attack reduction! I have experienced something similar, not at all nice and very worrying so I'm glad your situation has improved.

Ska Lover - my mum always used to forbid any washing on New Year's Day! You're washing the good luck away!

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas Day, whatever you are doing. Even those with family may find it difficult, depending on your circumstances, but special hugs to those on their own for the first time :grouphug:

If any of you are on Twitter, Sarah Millican is doing her annual #joinin for all those alone at Christmas. It really is an inspiring, wonderful community.
