I snuggled a 10-days-old baby for an hour yesterday. He was fussing in his bed, I took him out, and he fell asleep in my arms, sigh.... so sweet.

Candy.....how nice of you to say that I would make a good life coach.

Oddly enough a couple of people have suggested that recently and I have started looking at training courses to see what's actually involved. I will keep you posted.

Mrs S asked about blogs I read. I don't have any ones I follow slavishly but I have a few I dip into now and again. I like Mr Money Moustache and Life Without Money....although I do find them both a bit hardcore for me. Whilst I like to think I'm frugal, they make me feel like a right spendthrift. Lol

But, I'm of the opinion that a little frivolou spending is good for the soul. :rotfl: As my husband used to say "life would be very dull without a few fripperies".

For fun And fashion I like The Style Crone and Vintage Vixon. . (Something like Vintage Vixon blogspot). Sorry I'm hopeless at doing links.....I really must get more computer savvy.

Style Crone is American. She nursed her husband through a long illness so I can identify with her. She used fashion and design (and Yoga) to help her through her grief. Her clothes are sensational, all preloved.

I think Vixon is fab, she does exactly what I would like to do. She just started selling bits and pieces she found in chazzers and jumble sales and now has a nice little business selling vintage clothing. She does all the music festivals, County shows etc. The thing is she does it with her partner and tbh I don't think I could manage it myself. I think you need two people to set up and staff a stall.

It was something my husband and I planned to do in semi retirement.....hey ho. I'm sure I'll find my niche. :rotfl:

Candy.....I am on a mission to reduce my food spending too. I was horrified when last year my grocery bill spiralled out of control. So I too have set myself a target of around £25 to £30 a week.

I started in January. So far so good, I'm on track.

My Champagne moments on Sunday and yesterday were going to watch films at Streatham Odeon with my Odeon Limitless card. :D

On Sunday I watched Just Mercy and Little Women

On Monday I watched Bombshell and Bad Boys For Life

    ODEON says...

Based on the real scandal, Bombshell is a revealing look inside the most powerful and controversial media empire of all time and the explosive story of the women who brought down the infamous man who created it.

I have to confess, that I did not know anything about the huge scandal at Fox News regarding certain women News Anchors and other female staff who suffered sexual harassment from the CEO Roger Ailes of Fox News. This film gave me a real insight to the whole scandal and just how complicit others were in Roger Ailes decades long sexual harassment of female staff. I was ecstatic to discover that once the News Anchor Gretchen Carson built up a body of irrefutable evidence over a year of her employment, she finally decided to expose Roger Ailes with a lawsuit for sexual harassment. Eventually another female News Anchor Megyn Kelly also exposes that she too was sexually harassed by Roger Ailes which encourages other female staff at Fox News stepped up and told their personal accounts on the record of how they had also been sexually harassed by Roger Ailes. I was completely engrossed in this film, the female actors in the lead parts were superb. I would give this film 10/10 :D

    Odeon says ….

Bad Boys Movies: The Story So Far

Old-school cops Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett team up to take down the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel.

Newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department along with Mike and Marcus go up against the ruthless Armando Armas

I really enjoyed this latest Bad Boys film. It was full of action and it had so many moments of laugh of loud comedy. For me this film is a 9.5/10 :D

    Odeon says ….

A powerful and though-provoking true story, Just Mercy young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and his history making battle for justice.

After graduating from Harvard, Bryan has his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with support of the local advocate Eva Ansley.

One of his first and most incendiary case is that of Walter McMillian who, in 1987 was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18 year old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie.

In the years that follow Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter and others like him, with the odds and system stacked against them.

This film was excellent. It was absolutely harrowing in places and left me with a huge lump in my throat and struggling to contain my emotions. I would give this film 10/10 :D

    Odeon says ….

Writer/Director Greta Gerwig (Ladybird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author's alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life.

In Gerwig's tale, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on their own terms - is both timeless and timely

Having read the novel many, many years ago and also seen every other film and TV adaptation of the novel, I got what I was expecting from this latest film. It is very easy viewing and does not present you with any unpleasant scenes. I would give this film 8/10 :D

"How I Changed My Life In A Year". By Shelley Wilson. :D

Well my Year Of Change has been delayed due to that wretched virus. Realistically I am a month behind schedule. Never mind. I have made a start now......lost 3 lbs last week, and have started trying to walk a little further each day. Also done a loft sort out and the first tip run.

The first three months will be about weight loss, fitness, decluttering, licking my finances into shape and making start on the kitchen.

The plan is to hit my weight loss target by Easter and get the house finished by June. At the same time start adding a few more mini challenges like reading and visiting museums etc. I have made a start there too.

Thanks for the wowcher tip. Yes that's the sort of thing I thought I might try.

It's been a gorgeous day here but dropping cold now, so dinner and then snuggle down with a book and plex. Might watch 1917 later.
  • Yes of course, a life coach!! Fab idea :T

Wednesday - your post did make me chuckle...you sound just like me! I would also like to make sleep a priority; I have just realised how like my mum I am becoming - she was a devil for staying up late. I love my bed - I really do - and I hate getting up in the mornings. I love the idea of an early night but I either seem to start waking up around 9pm, or I find lots of things to do or read to keep me awake! I must try harder because like LL, if I have good sleep it makes such a huge difference.

I am also trying to create some simple routines/quick wins which will help me live a simplified life. For example, coming up with a quick makeup look for day (I find I am looking really washed out at the moment), and one for night so I am not always wondering what eyeshadow to wear. Deciding that I will only do cleaning on three days every week (except for daily bed-making, washing up and cleaning down the kitchen of course), rather than in a one-day block at the weekend. Having specific days in which I tackle paperwork and admin/finance stuff. Having really simple meals; with one night a week externally catered (by the takeaway... :D ) And having four evenings a week where I do nothing but the bare minimum, and can pamper myself and have an early night.

Those oats sounded amazing. I really enjoy overnight oats; never thought I could stomach eating cold oats but I surprised myself by loving them! I enjoy them best mixed with low fat plain yoghurt and with berries on top - tonight I've prepared tomorrow's breakfast and added in some apple juice. Fingers crossed the apple juice works.

    Nice to see Sugarbaby back!
