Sealed Pot Challenge ~ 12

Hi all. Can I join in this year? I am always throwing pennies into various pots around the house. This year I tried to do the '1p a day' challenge from another website, but that was unrealistic as by 200 days+ into the year it meant saving over £2 every day, which on my budget is unrealistic! I also ended up dipping into the pot as its been a rough year (however i counted up what was left in there today and it was £143 so not bad, not quite the £600 i was aiming for though!).

So this year I'd like to join you all, I am not setting a target and I don't want to count all of my money saving into it (like cashback etc) as I'd just like to use a physical pot and pennies - counting it up is so exciting! I've put £5.17 in today to start me off as its odd pennies and things from another money box I had knocking around.

I have made up my box as it fits onto a shelf perfectly and inconspicuously in my dining room (its a cardboard box covered in brown paper and lots of selotape!) and I've stuck a customised calendar from 2nd November 2018 - 31st October 2019 onto it so I can tick off everyday, i want to aim to put something in every day even if its a penny :-)

Hi everyone I'm here :wave:

Got my new tin out and put the first £2 coin in tonight. SPC11 money is now sat at the side of me on the desk, in a poo bag :rotfl: waiting to be carted off to the bank (and it'll smell of lavender when I pay it in :rotfl:). Still haven't checked out the HSBC paying-in machine thing yet but will get on to it next week.

Woohoo, let’s get started :-) pot is ready and first few coins been put in. I don’t tend to keep count of how much I’m putting in, it comes as a nice surprise on deceleration day! I’m starting earlier this time, loved the last challenge and excited for this one! Thanks for doing it again this year Sue!

Seems as though everyone is off to a good start - hoping I can keep up the momentum over the year!

DH came home from work with lots of lovely tips for the pot Not sure of the exact amount as he wouldn’t let me count it (but I definitely saw some gold coins going in! ). He knows that if I count what goes in each time then I’ll be keeping a running tally and know roughly what we have at opening day, but he wants it to be a complete surprise. Fair play to him, but I know in a few months I’ll be itching to count the total so far - must stay strong!!

I quite agree with you, twigletsmum, the surprise at the end of the SPC year is so exciting. :j You saved brilliantly during 11 and I've no doubt whatsoever that you'll get even better this time round! Your declaration post really touched a chord in my heart, it was wonderful and gave me such a buzz to know that SPC did that for you!! Happy potting twigletsmum!

Be strong and always treat your Pot as though it's a bomb :idea:...get too close to it for anything other than putting cash in and...who knows what might happen!!! :eek: Take great note of the mantra on your siggy "Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship."... it applies similarly to your pot See you soon.



Another £5er for the pot after a little fruit & veg! Such a shame I only had a tenner to give him! :rotfl:
