  • DH worked last night and brought home lots of lovely tips to feed the pot! He wouldn’t let me count it again, but at a quick glance it looked like at least £10 :T

Off grocery shopping tomorrow. In view of starting this challenge, I’ve decided to take out the week’s budget in cash and put anything left over into the pot - even more motivation to be under budget! :j
Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.
    Debt at highest = £62,842.59 (Dec 2018) - now £41,324.61 (28.07.25)
    Mortgage start Dec 2024 £247,069.59 - now £243,955.28
    Mortgage overpayment total = £300
    Emergency fund £1000/£2000

Hello Potters glad to be back! Thank you for the new thread Sue-UU. My goodnesss, I've only been missing since Friday and the thread has gone wild :)

I've decided to start my new pot off with anything I couldn't bag up from SPC 11. Didn't count it but it's given my pot a nice healthy sound when shaken. Good luck everyone with your savings this year. xx

  • Hi People,

Been food shopping this morning. Have kept £5 back for the weekend (bread & milk etc) but potted a shiny pound coin plus a few coppers, that's a good healthy start for next year :T Anything left after the weekend top up will be potted too.

    Good luck Potters!

  • Hi everyone.

Sue thank you for doing this thread again. All your hard work is much appreciated and I really do hope that I can get in here more often than I have done. I really want 2019 to be a great year.

I normally carry on potting into my 2018 pot as it still goes towards Christmas 2018 as every wee penny counts since DH's work is seasonal and also since he lost the contract which funds see us over the winter period. I really hope we get lucky this year and has a bit more work after Christmas. Sometimes he may only be out a week or for 8 weeks. It depends.

Anyway, what I am saying is I will start afresh in January if I have any pennies to spare. But I am setting a target of £1,150. This would cover presents, food, parties, birthdays etc.
    Barclaycard: £4,217.55/£5 = 0.11% | Tesco £3,810.55/£3,770.55 = 1.05%

Hello there Sealed Potters! I hope the week has begun well for you all.

To all those who aren't well in any way, I hope you're soon feeling much, much better very soon! For now, here's love and {{{{hugs}}}} from us all especially to YOU!! :grinheart

Oh we don't hang about waiting for you, siju, I suggested we did but the others wouldn't have it. ;) Believe that tommy-rot and you'll believe anything! :D It's not been as fast-flowing as normal though, folk being too busy doing other things I guess.

I don't blame you with what you've saved from not being able bag up on SPC 11, I did the same, why not!! Good luck to you too.

Good for you, little_sweetie, a good and health start to the year for certain. All the best for your SIL getting the job that's best for him, if he hasn't already got it.

Hello there moneymanager, I've just been chatting to you over on 11, by golly you did well!! It sounds as though things are quite a struggle for you and your DH at present, I sincerely hope things pick up for him, for you both. Look after yourselves and each other and come and see us more often as it really does give everyone incentive to save harder, not just you, it's how you motivate others also! :grinheart All the very best for you both, and btw, I've updated your Target, good luck with it. :)

    Sue

Thank you for the warm welcome.
I officially started my pot off last night --- nice surprise that i had put some silver in it at some point last year but forgotten i had.. Emptied my coppers into its new official home... raided the car for the bits of small change that never seemed to have an official home...and finally emptied my purse of the loose coins not used last week. I couldn't resist a count up as i went to see what my first pot contribution is...£11.12.
Feeling chuffed with myself for getting started :j
