    Morning potters

Starting off with £10 added to my pot. I’m off Christmas shopping early today and thought I’d add to my pot as it’s looking a little sad at the moment.

I’m off the starting blocks with my potting :D

    Have a great weekend all

    Starting afresh.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x
  • I'm saving for bariatric surgery, after a lifetime of yo yo dieting and being refused for ops that will improve my mobility (re mobility scooter bought last year). It will cost thousands so some VERY serious saving to be done, £15 isn't even a drop in the ocean!
Only DH knows at the moment, I have researched it well, know where I want to have the op (in the spirit of MSE it's £1000 cheaper than the 'posher' hospital the same surgeon also works at)
I know some will think it's the easy way out, but from my research it's far from that.
Beans on toast, without the beans for the forseeable future it is then!!!!!!

    Xmas Saver!
    May I join?

I'd like to save £100 towards emergency fund.
this month has been a huge mess up with my finances as my energy went from £30 a month to being over £120+ as the hubs & me forgot to turn off the heating for a few days as well as needing to buy house hold things, ubers due to my bus to work not turning up etc. I had to use £100 from emergency & £100 from my wedding fund.

I can't wait for my pay on the 28th !!
    Could not come sooner.

I have £30 left in cash for the month... *yay*

  • Just done my first purse clear-out of the 'new year' and potted £9 in £2s, £1s and 50s. Going to stick with the same rule this year, weekly purse clear-out potting as mentioned while shrapnel goes in the giant Coke bottle which is about a quarter full now. Sealed pot total will also include my Quidco money which I let mount up over the year and then cash out when we open our pots (first £7-odd of that for this year has just tracked), plus any other bits such as PPI (due a bit more soon hopefully), lottery wins, eB*y sales, etc.

Donewithdebt18, I'm pleased you finally stopped lurking and joined us! ;)
    :D

laurajayne, all the best with your finances.

    Hi there Potters! :j I hope you've had a smashing Saturday!! :D
To all members who are poorly or feeling low, here's good wishes for you to get well soon. For now, love and {{{Hugs}}} from us all. :grinheart

Fantastic potting, motivated, that really is a great beginning!!!! I hope the shopping went well.

Great potting for you also, Niknak. :D

No wonder you're going all out to save as much as possible, Lucy! :) So sorry to hear about the surgery, but if it'll help you health wise in the long run then I can see exactly why you're going for it. You've obviously researched it well and at least MSE is able to help you save some!! :money:
A friend in the next village had it done 7 years ago and it's worked wonders for her and I sincerely hope it does for you and that you get your life back so you can enjoy it with your grandkiddies. :j
I doubt any of us would see the op as being the easy way out, not when it's causing you such misery. Aside from that, none of us know what we or our loved ones might face in the future and let's face it, you could have easily not told us! Sadly, life has totally changed food wise over the years, walk in to a supermarket and it's everywhere you look, so much temptation! A far cry from the days of going in a shop and physically asking for what you needed then going home. I'll be thinking of you eating your toast, but wishing you well for certain. ;) Happy potting!

Don't worry, apricity, you don't need to rejoin, but I've given you a new number due to many people not having returned. Yours is 017, could you please swap it round on your siggy? Thanks a lot. :D You're fortunate in your normal bill being so low (we're all electric and ours is over a £100) but do take care to turn your heating down if it's not necessary!! ;) Save hard as soon as you're able.

Well, you've certainly got everything sorted out with regards to your savings, MrsShazbat!! :D Good for you in being so organised and well done with your weeks potting!

Brilliant potting, swimminginaseaofdebt!!! :j I doubt the notes will be flying off out anywhere but I know what you mean. Keep up the great work!!

£2 in the pot after buying fruit and veg, plastic free too!! :D

Have a lovely Sunday, SPCers, enjoy the sun before the cold arrives!!
    Sue

Opening date for SPC 12 will be 31st October 2019

Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late, so please just ask, you'll be made very welcome.
