I've not posted much recently but making savings here and there

    I've used a Waitrose voucher for £8 off a £40 spend plus Sainsbury's voucher for £6 off £40 spend.

It was easier spending in Sainsbury's as there are not so many things I need in Waitrose which I can store, plus I have to carry my shopping home on the bus! I did need two birthday cards and a birthday gift, so that accounted for £10.

Earlier in the month I bought a towel from Debenhams which had 20% off and I part paid using a Debenhams voucher which was from points from using my Debenhams credit card.

In my accounts I show the full cost of the items, and I put the savings into my sealed pot. When opened, this money then goes back into my birthday/Christmas/general gift category - and this category does not need additional funding.

Also I've had 4 compensation payments this year for bank errors - each for £50. I reckon I earned those for the stress that the errors caused me.

I’ve banked the £55 that was in my pot and have updated my signature. I’ve potted £4 today.

I feel bad as I haven’t been potting much these past couple of weeks. It’s mainly because I have a new debit card which rounds up my transactions into a separate savings account and I now have £35 but obviously my pot is missing out on all my loose change. It has made budgeting so much easier for me though.

£10 in coins went into my sealed pot this afternoon (a mixture of raising my purse and husbands coin tray) and £1.78 into my loose change tub.

    Getting back into the groove...

    Hi All

Confession time - I opened my pot last week...

I have decided to reduce my hours at work after much soul searching. I have been wanting to do this for ages but I had a loan to pay back and I couldn't reduce my hours and make the full loan payment. I figured out that if I used some savings plus my pot cash I could pay the loan by the end of June which allows me to reduce my hours from July (and save a little interest).

I had more than expected in my pot- £540 so I have kept £100 to start my new sealed pot and my new goal is try to get to £540 or beyond by October 31st.

Back to potting. Just potted £1.85, 5p of which was roadkill found yesterday while down the cemetery putting fresh flowers on. I’m taking it as sign from mum and dad that money won’t always be an issue! :rotfl:

I've had a fabulous weekend with some school friends. We all turn 50 this year and decided to go to an 80s festival together. Everything was fantastic, weather, music and company. One to remember, I think. I wasn't expecting to come home with any money, but looking in my purse today I can see I have £10.21 to pot, so whoppee :)
