CCJ against Paypal

Hello,

I have had a PayPal account which was limited 9 months ago. Since their TOS says that they could hold my money for 6 months, I respected their decision and decided to wait until July 2018. It has been almost 9 months and they still continue to hold my money for no reason. I have called PayPal UK and EU numerous time and each time they said they will release my money as soon as I send them my ID. (Each call should be recorded in PayPal's system). I have sent them both my driver license and national ID numerous times and they said on the phone and in emails that they were gonna release my funds but they never did.

Finally, I have sent them a Pre-legal notification saying that they have no right to hold my money after 180 days despite my compliance with their request to supply valid extra proof of identity and other valid ID. They said that I have to go to UK European Consumer Centre or UK Financial Ombudsman Service to complain and they did not care about the court claim I was going to make.

Finally I have took them to small court in Uk and requested a default CCJ today because they failed to response my request. (today it was their final day to respond).

The money that is being held in my account is 2900£ plus 105£ court fee.

What are my options to enforce judgement?
Should I call them and tell them that they lost the case and I have default CCJ and if they release my fund I will not take any further action?

Please advice, I really don't know what to do.

Thanks!

You could try sending bailiffs in to their registered office (5 New Street Square, London, United Kingdom, EC4A 3TW). But that just looks like a correspondence address.

But you'd need to trace some assets in the UK.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Be aware that Paypal do not have any assets in the UK. They are a Luxembourg registered company and you will have to sue them according to the rules over there.
Others have tried using the UK offices but the post from the court is not opened and returned to sender.

Would have been the easiest option.

You are not going to get a lot from a rented office with a rented desk and rented laptop !

Totally disagree with the above - a CCJ will get you your money...

Paypal Whittaker House, 2 Whittaker Avenue, Richmond

If you escalate the CCJ through to high court and get Bailiffs sent in, they will pay immediately.

I bet there's a coffee machine in there worth £5k never mind PC equipment.

That is indeed true. Personally I would go after the U.K. address first but it's your call as to how you wish to proceed.

Often big companies don't realise they have a ccj until someone knocks on their door and tells them. They might just cough up when baliffs turn up.
  • Paypal won't 'give' you a CCJ, a CCJ just means a court has made a judgment against you. So if Paypal take you to court and you lose, you have a CCJ.

It's the op that has gained a ccj against PayPal. It was, of course, awarded by a court. A default judgement but a judgement nonetheless.
