Your deposit cannot be your stake, as it is not at stake. :wall:
You are gambling with the interest on the money, which is collected together in the "prize fund" and then redistributed according to the results of a random draw of bond numbers, i.e. a gamble.
Either you really cannot grasp this simple concept, or you are just trolling.
Its not gambling in my book - its a safe deposit which I can recall at any point and not lose. I fully understand the concept. And if there's a 1 in 63000 odds of winning £1M over a year then thats great odds in my eyes. As for your possible accusation go have a word with yourself.0

Didn’t last long did it?.I see this account has been pulled already,I presume you can still add funds as long as it was opened on time
I followed a link from Thisismoney this morning and opened an account. I transferred my initial deposit by ‘faster payment’ at 09.45. However, logging into my new Nottingham B.Soc account at 1415hrs still shows a balance of £0.00
There was a notification on their website to say that e-savings accounts would be inoperative (or words to that affect) from 11.00am until 6pm.
At the moment I don’t know whether I have an on-going viable account with them or not,... which is a bit annoying because I now have a wad of cash in my current account that I was hoping to transfer today. :doh:0

I'm sure that your account opening will be viable since you will have received the logging in detail?0

Does anybody know how long a trial payment takes to be bounced back to the originating account? I did this not knowing it was not allowed and it hasn't appeared back yet, I only realised this was not allowed after I had read this thread . My initial deposit still wasn’t showing at 3pm so I rang the help-desk;...the operator couldn’t explain why my deposit still wasn’t showing in my account but she reassured me by saying that “everything should be ok”...should be !?!I'm sure that your account opening will be viable since you will have received the logging in detail?
However, just had another peek at 15.30 and my deposit is now showing;...looks like I just managed to scrape through by the skin of my teeth.0

i once had just £5 in PBs. (my parents must have bought them for me when i was a kid.) i once won a £25 prize. and later cashed in the £5. that works out a lot higher than 1.4% return.I agree with all of your post except 'certain' - it's entirely possible to achieve a return of greater than 1.4% without winning one of the very very high prizes!
With the random draws there are very few certainties with PBs, other than that those who achieve below-average returns will feel the need to use terms like 'ripped off'....
so, in effect, i am the reason biggus dickus got such a poor return. so sue me! 0 0

Well no, I wouldn't have thought you just scraped through. Because you had the login details which were forwarded to you as a part of the application process for opening the account, it seems reasonable to assume that even had you not funded the account that it would have been actually opened and it would be simply there awaiting your first funding payment.Biggus_Dickus wrote: »My initial deposit still wasn’t showing at 3pm so I rang the help-desk;...the operator couldn’t explain why my deposit still wasn’t showing in my account but she reassured me by saying that “everything should be ok”...should be !?!

In other words, when you applied, the account would have been opened there and then, rather than at the point that you actually sent the first fund to it.0

I funded mine from an incorrect account and it was back in minutes. But with you, I'm assuming you have funded it with a lower amount than £1000? If so, then maybe worthwhile to look in the Nottingham account to see if it is actually there.0

You’ll be hearing from my legal team first thing on the morrow. :mad:short_butt_sweet wrote: »i once had just £5 in PBs. (my parents must have bought them for me when i was a kid.) i once won a £25 prize. and later cashed in the £5. that works out a lot higher than 1.4% return.

No I have checked the Nottingham account and it is not in there, I did put £1000 straight after and that is showing. I will have to wait and see if it goes back into the originating account. If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0
