Sorry, that was just sheer laziness on my part when posting, yes loads of onion, carrot and mushroom in the Bolognese but you're right, there should be 1/3 plate of speed to accompany it.
Dinner tonight though will have added spring onion, baby corn and mangetout!
Just to clarify, I didn't mean added to (although I know some consultants say that vegetables cooked in a recipe don't count:mad:). I was just checking that the Speed was in it.:)0 -

My consultant has said that 1 third of the plate should be speed, like you say NOT cooked into the recipe. But I bulk up my meals with speed as I like everything cooked together/coated/swimming in sauce. Is there a right or wrong answer to this because I don't see what the difference is, other than a visual "check" that you're getting 1/3 speed.
I love veg so it isn't a problem for me to bulk up.You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

That's true fatrab and you deserved your night out last week. I know you want to reach that target for Christmas but SW has to fit round RL to make it sustainable. And RL includes unplanned nights out sometimes. It happens.:)
Absolutely agree!
Looking at your menu for today, it doesn't seem to have much Speed. Probably some in the Bolognese. Any more? Remember you need at least a third Speed and IMO as much as possible.:)
Agree with this too!
Out of sheer nosiness denise, why did you have Aunty Bessie's potatoes?;)
Because DH wanted them! Warned him they're quite high syn and probably not worth it!!! As it happens neither of us liked them so the rest of the bag is going to be binned:T.
We're out for a meal tonight with friends. I haven't chosen the Christmas menu so I'm hoping that the regular menu won't have suffered and I can have the low syn fishy dishes that I've eaten there before. There will be wine syns though.:o
Still, as the consultants like to tell us 'it's only one meal'. The rest of the day will be SW friendly.
EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB toast, 2 fried eggs, baked beans, HEA milk for drinks
L: LO fried veg, ham, pickles
tbc
Enjoy your meal tonight Maman.
DH decided we should go for a walk this afternoon. Had only been out about 10 minutes when the drizzle started getting heavier. We carried on walking (most of it briskly!) for nearly an hour. Was definitely glad to get back and have a nice hot cup of tea!

I can't see the difference either but like you say it could be as a visual check. I'd just carry on as you are - I think that's how most of us do things.

Just don't do what I did last night, started to strain the carrots, then realised I was holding the strainer the wrong way round, just as well I had cooked a lot & had lots of salad, as I was unable to rescue those that fell in sink:oA smile costs little but creates much

I agree. Sometimes SW say some daft things. For the visual check, I remember kathrynha saying she puts all her veg in a mixing bowl (before hiding it from her DH) so she can actually see the quantity. For most meals I use serving bowls, Sunday's particularly. At the table yesterday we had a steak each on the plate with mushrooms & onions on top, a gravy boat, a bowl of roast carrots and potatoes, a dish of swede & carrot mash, a bowl of savoy cabbage and a bowl of mixed cauli and broccoli. The bowls are bigger than the dinner plates. is that enough of a visual check do you think!!;)
Good news here. DH tried on his dinner suit and to quote Cinderella 'It fits!' So his giving up biscuits and cakes and following vaguely SW plan has worked.
He's delighted. I'm not expecting him to keep it up permanently but I think he's learned a lot about why it's better to have a healthy lunch than snack on rubbish.
Glad your DH's experiment with the Aunt Bessie's failed denise.:T Surely he knows your cooking is best!:D
ETA: gtq, I'd have given the carrots a quick wash:o.0 -
