Not done any flying today, caught up with bestie after work & took the pup for a stroll, then off to the gym.
Bf cooked tea when I got home.
I'm in work tomorrow, so I'm going to chill for the evening and tick off the rest of the list over the weekend.
    Enjoy your evenings all

    Evening all.

Took DH back to see the GP this morning, and she thinks he may have a virus rather than a bacterial infection - as she said, "You've had so many antibiotics it's unlikely that any germs could have survived!" However, in examining him, she discovered that he has fluid on both lungs. Deja vu :( Atm he is sort-of OK, but I shall have to keep a close eye on him. It is very wearing.

DS1 came round this morning with DGD1+2 for just over an hour - they had to be back in time to let the engineer in to try and repair their boiler. He replaced the complete bath plughole and overflow set (previous one had corroded) :), moved the latch plate on the ensuite door so that it now closes properly :), replaced the battery in our gas fire so that it now lights :), and has done the difficult part of fixing the replacement window pane in the back porch :) leaving me to finish it off whan I have time :rotfl:

I have managed to do a sizeable chunk of the WW1 display (one third finished now), act as handyman's assistant, cook lunch, take Rosie for her walk (and by chance meet up with someone I haven't seen for about 5 months, so did an extra lap of the field while we chatted), cook tea, make soup for tomorrow and and go food shopping to replenish the empty fridge.

Now I am sorting paperwork for the charity EGM tomorrow morning. Rosie is hiding behind the sofa because of the firework bangs :(

Probably won't get on here tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Keep safe and warm! xx

classic wintry tea made - potato hash with dumplings because DS loves them (and they are filling and satisfying) and apple crumble made with free apples from mum and dad's tree. Extra apples prepped and in the fridge.

Been a productive week with lots of flingage. Am pleased.

    Good morning,

I know you're probably not reading this, Iona, but do take care of yourself. X

Yesterday was busy - all day at work, home with 10 minutes to spare before turning myself back out again for an unexpected evening out at the theatre with a couple of friends. It was a lovely evening.

Today will be another busy day. It is the annual village event - luckily that means that nobody round here seems to have fireworks at any other time or place. DH is helping out this morning, then it's my turn this afternoon, and we are both back there early evening. I need to get some dinner in the sc so that there is something cooking for when we get back later.

I guess that means that I have a couple of hours on my hands to do something useful around the house this morning. I need a kick to get going.
  • Hi flyfriends x

I'm on a mission today this house is doing my head in.
So far I've done 3 x WM and either TD or hung on the winterdyke.
Blitzed the bathroom, removed all the stuff from the counter and gave it to DD to sort through. Chucked a lot of it out and the rest is now in 2 small baskets I picked up cheap the other day.
I've made a start on the scullery and the LR

I'm away to get a cuppa then start again.

Love and hugs to all xxxx

  • Plague house sign on the door.
3 loads of washing from Pickle's poorliness this morning done and will be hung up when I eveict the cat from the basket.
Batch cooking of shepherd's pie done (one for a friend who's moving house today) and plenty for us to both eat tonight and to portion up for freezer meals for the coming weeks.
Dw whirring for the second time then I'll make a batch of doughnut dough as Mum has requested these following how well they turned out for our bake off final night party. (Actually need to nip out to the shop to get more bread flour before I do this)
This afternoon is lots of lounging and snuggling with a poorly Pickle (although we have just dispatched him off for a proper nap in bed).

  • Himself's birthday today. He's just got up and is doing 'something' in the kitchen (which is a start compared to the latter half of the week).

I have not done anything for it, as he doesn't like that kind of thing, so I'm just going to let him do whatever he wants (which is probably watch a couple of 80s movies, eat crap and move no further than from the settee to the bathroom or from the settee to the fridge and back again for the next 10 hours).
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Achieved a lot yesterday, but not much of it on my original list!
    - The house was clean and tidy and everything was ready for lunch before people began arriving for the EGM at 11.00
    - A good meeting, we are closing down our charity knowing that we have done all we can and it's now time to move on to other work. Decisions on the distribution of the financial and real assets to charities that share our aims were all unanimous :)
    - delicious bring-and-share lunch with friends
    - Rosie had a good walk before the fireworks started
    - I got an hour's rest while the roast was cooking
    - I sat up late but finished writing up all the Minutes and also drafted a newsletter.
    :D:D

The winding up of the charity is mainly up to me, as Secretary, but it's not a rush job. Realistically, I am hoping that it will all be done by the end of January. It will involve flinging a number of things from my study and rearranging the contents of the cupboard ;)

Today - apart from going to church twice - I shall be putting together a talk for the Old Wives (tomorrow evening!) about my father's experiences in WW1. Fortunately I have lots of photos, artefacts and books, and my friends will do much of the talking - though for most of them it was their grandfather's, not father's generation that fought. I shall have to make a foray into the eaves loft which is full of all my family history bits and pieces. I may be gone some little time.... (but that's a different story.)

Have a good day all, and keep yourselves and your children safe xx My heart goes out to the families in Woking.
