Why are some drivers so impatient?

Possibly the wrong bulb fitted to her brake lights. I accidentally fitted the wrong brake light bulb once, and every time I braked, my headlights came on. Was it full beam? or just dipped headlights?
Nothing to do with wrongly wired brake lights. I can assure you it was flashing on full beam.I would have sped up a little bit then hit the brakes as hard as i could,i know this is not really a safe thing to do but would love to see her face when she hit the back of my car and i called the police and reminded her her insurance would go thru the roof.
Tempting but not worth it for 2 reasons:
1. My front facing dashcam would prove I had no reason to break.
2. My car is only 3 months old and having broken my neck 40 years ago I am not taking the chance of ending up with whiplash or even worse. Last accident I had I was hit from behind by a car doing 10 miles an hour and ended up wearing a collar for 10 days and had 6 weeks of physio. I also had to argue with the ambulance and fire crews for 15 minutes not to cut the top of my car off.
I am sure she will get her just reward from the police.3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0 -
The HC says that "you should be careful of and considerate to all types of road users", which equally applies to not blocking the road & holding people up.
However, from the description, as I understand it, the OP wants to turn right into a road but has to give way to the oncoming traffic until it is safe to proceed; surely that's just normal driving...
...unless they are so slow that they shouln't be out in a car!0 -
1) Perhaps you are slowing down too much and too early for your right turn?
2) Perhaps you are being unduly hesitant and slow in making your manoeuvre?
3) You make a point of saying there are parked cars on the left parallel to where you turn so it seems doubtful the issue is that you are positioning too far to the left and preventing vehicles passing on your nearside.
Still no excuse for anyone to behave like morons.
I had a white van tailing me so close all I could see was the bonnet of the vehicle. That's just plain stupidity.0 -

You're just as bad.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

I'd go with you if this happened once, but given this seems to have happened to the OP a number of times at the same junction I think the OP might need to look closer to home to understand what is causing the conflict and reaction from other drivers.0 -
Worst situation I've had:
Was driving back from work - doing 60 - the limit on that road
Had a van tailgating me the whole way, for at least 10 miles. Whenever traffic in front slowed and I responded the van driver looked like he was going to go into the back of me - not looking at the road ahead at all.
When we got to a village - and the speed reduced to 30, I gently slowed down so that I'd be at the correct speed - he did not
Decided to drive maybe a foot away from me, going down a bendy hill, swerving all over the place like a maniac behind me.
I flashed brake lights at him to try and encourage him to slow or go past as it was a dangerous situation.
He did finally go past and swerve out blocking the road, before getting out and shouting aggressively. I ignored him until he got back in and sped off.
According to him - I was the one driving dangerously by going at
30 in a 30 - not him trying to drive at 50, tailgating and swerving all over the road.
Psychopath.
Was the one time I really wished I had a dash camMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
Interesting that a couple of you have suggested that the OP is the one at fault.
I only drive around 8 miles to work and then the same back again. Easy journey on the motorway and a bit of traffic getting to my road. Every single day I witness poor driving, impatience, aggressive drivers, children that obviously have no road sense - either running out without looking or teenagers texting whilst cycling and going all over the place - yet those drivers doing the right, safe thing are the ones who get the abuse.
Busy roads are a way of life these days - what's wrong with being kind, patient and above all safe.
OP writes instead of slow going normal pace, has accident, most will then still blame the OP for not slowing down!0 -
Anecdotes about tailgating and aggression are simply lovely:D but have no bearing on the Ops story. Stories about people stopping in the middle of the road for no reason might, although it is infrared to British drivers that speed of any kind is bad and therefore going slowly or even stopping must be, by default, safe.0
