Would you comment on someone's speed if you were a passenger?

You wouldn't go to the barber and sit there quietly whilst he chose to swing his razor around your neck irresponsibly.

Because nobody wants to pay for a service that kills them.

If someone is breaking the law and speeding, they're risking your life, the speed limit is set for safety reasons, simple.

It would be perfectly fine to just say "Excuse me driver, could you please stick to the same speed limit that everyone else has to, you know, I just don't wanna die today, cheers."

Some would say that's a rather subjective opinion ... there are many cases where a speed limit is set which has no safety reason behind it.

As an example: In my own case, I was pulled for speeding (40 in a 30, on a dual carriageway) back in December 2012. In April 2013 the same road was changed to a 40 limit even though there were no other changes made to the layout, surface, infrastructure or anything else - it was the exact same road but now with a higher limit. So you're convinced that the 30 limit at the time was there for safety reasons?

If I felt my safety was in danger then yes, I would say something and have done before

I went to college with a lad who took me out in his vauxhall nova 1.4SR and proceeded to drive it as though we were being chased by the police. I said either let me out or slow down, he slowed down

I don't go to the barbers, so what's your point?

Because nobody wants to pay for a service that kills them.

Really? I guess that all those dignity customers are dues a refund?

Don't worry about my life worry about your own, how many race drivers are dead due to speeding?

I wouldn't be giving you a lift however as said earlier you can always find your own way, life isn't all about you ;)

Well obviously there are differences of opinion as to the safe limit, do you think it's safer for a driver in England to be driving with 80mg/100ml of alcohol in their blood than in Scotland?

First off, I never would ask you for a lift, so... it's kind of like me saying "I'm not going to give you my mars bar, you can get your own chocolate, life isn't all about you." Despite you never mentioning a mars bar :rotfl: bit vain, not everyone wants a slice all this brilliance you may have to offer.

    Also-
People who argue something that is clearly a metaphorical example as something literal, and completely ignore the very obvious point that it made, those are people with no good point to combat it. - Okay, you don't go to the barbers, I'm assuming you have the brain capacity to put yourself in a different situation where the point is still valid?

Also, if you're referring to Dignity funerals, I've never seen a funeral service offer to throw the death in as part of the service. :rotfl:

Btw, I wasn't worrying about your life, I do focus on keeping my own.

As a motorcyclist it can get frustrating when you see so many drivers with very laid back and tolerant views on speeding. It's even more frustrating when you see headlines in the local paper constantly about bikers being killed by speeding drivers or DUI drivers.

the "your life" wasn't intended to be taken as literally referring to yours. Not everything's about you ;)

This is true, I guess what I mean is, generally safety is a thought when planning roads, I'm certainly not saying they're always right, because sometimes it'd be easy to believe a child planned some roads!

But generally if the limit that everyone else sticks to, is stuck to, it makes sense that it would be a safer situation and a better flow. -- GENERALLY --

But applying it to this situation, I think if you felt your safety was at risk due to the speed, of course you're within your rights as a paying customer to mention it.

    If the driver doesn't notice their passenger;

stomping on the invisible brake pedal in the passenger footwell,
gripping the sides of the seat,
pushing their upper body into the backrest, and all the while
involuntarily drawing sharp intakes of breath ...

then I reckon there's little hope for them.

Just like you there are motorcyclists that also drive (and exceed the posted limits on the motorbikes).

Nobody said you would ask me for a lift

I'm on about dignity the self suicide company (obviously not legal in the UK).

It is you who is debating the metaphorical topic as literal, as one answer doesn't concur with your mindset automatically they are idiots etc? IYO :p

I think you two need to get a room to further this bromance.
