    I see.
    I want.
    I buy.
Luckily, almost all of my spending is in charity shops, especially our Air Ambulance 'everything's £1.00'.
But my shoe/handbag wardrobe needs to be seen to be believed. :o

£160, including shoes, so far this year between me and DH. Don't think we need any new winter stuff either.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

I think I've probably spent around £80 max, but for that, I have got a lot for my money: at least 50 items including a handbag for £2 that I use daily. All my finds have been from chazzers - I am not even vaguely tempted to buy new - and much of it has been shared with my mum (gifted) and sister (spirited away).

It is still a big spend considering I didn't actually need any of it, apart from £12 I spent on BN underwear in the summer. I have so many clothes, it's embarrassing. So for the most part I am concentrating on using up and wearing out.

:) Usually not very much (devoted chazzer shopper).

Thus far in 2018; pair office trousers (50p), pair pj trews (50p), blouse (£2.99), fleece ( £3.99), rain jacket (£7.95), black Clarks shoes (£8), waterproof jacket (£10), ankle boots (£4.99). - £38.92.

Entire cost of clothing and footwear I've bought that I still own and use - £1,232.99.

I aim to buy good quality stuff for pennies on the £ - the blouse is a coolmax Tilley Endurables and the fleece is R0han, whose stuff I like but not their prices.:rotfl:

You can get some good quality stuff down the old charity shop. However the ones near me have gone up in price and it's no longer such a bargain. However this may be a blessing for me :)
  • I've probably spent about £100 this year.
I very rarely buy new clothes as the ones I've got are in good condition & I don't buy "trends" that quickly look out of date.

I've bought things like new undies, socks etc. I rescued a pair of walking boots (good for the two mile trek to work in winter) by fitting some new insoles for £4. & I bought two pairs of black trousers from Primarni at £5 each.

I do need to buy a new pair of converse (my fave shoes) as my old ones are too tattered now. & Some new knee high socks - again for the winter walk to work.

I got a very good winter coat last year from Decathlon, which I hope still fits as I've lost about 3/4 of a stone since then.
It's so lovely & warm I'll probably still keep it & wear layers under it - it's too good to discard, especially in really freezing weather.

I use a personal shopper, my husband. He's a keen charity shop hunter & brings back impressive finds for pennies. In clothing matters, I tend to nick his stuff - and since he bought the good stuff I nicked the good stuff and am still wearing it years later. Underclothing I do buy for myself new (I have sourced once item in a charity shop which was a donated sample, but prefer the peace of mind & other parts [though not the wallet] that comes from M&S).

I buy him some things - there are a couple of sweaters in the wardrobe that are exclusively his, and a custom raincoat [er, several years old now] but he enjoys the hunt.

He outfitted the youngest for Prom with change from £30 (and you would never have known it - a Ted Baker suit!) til the lad ran amok & insisted on a "brand new" shirt of surpassing new but unclassic short term usage at a coming-up-to-Prom price.

I love converse and they do last pretty well. Shoes and socks are the only things I tend to 'wear' out of as I walk everywhere. I agree with you regarding trends, I don't tend to do this either but sometimes I buy things because I do generally like them but in reality they aren't really 'me' or they dont fit in with my lifestyle
  • Shamefully, the pair I've got that have finally given up the ghost were bought about 10 years ago...
I've got some Amazon vouchers as gifts, so I'll be ordering off there (after going to the high street to try some on to get the right size)
