You really need to start reading the newbies section in detail and learn more about the game you are now involved in and read CEL threads.

Its not a fine, its a speculative invoice from a parking scammer who preys on people folding and paying when they read scary letters that lie about the power/s they usually don't have.

Civil Enforcement haven't bought the debt, they are the parking scammer and somebody at the pub or representing the pub has employed them contractually to operate their parking scam on the land, do explore who owns the land, do harass the pub to do something because THEY CAN!!!! and lastly don't panic this can be dealt with, just takes time and effort.

What does CEL mean? Sorry to be such a pain and clueless, just feels very daunting all of this but I know its not right and want to fight it, not going to just let them win.
I have just applied for the AOS? So i get 14 more days and let them know I am going to defend myself as per the instructions on here.

CEL is Civil Enforcement Limited. They are a particularly nasty parking company.

Save the MP for later, but don't forget as it is important.

Have you now found the Newbies thread? It's located at the top of this board. If you are struggling go to the very top and you will see a link saying Parking Fines Tickets and Parking. Click that link and it will take you to the board index.

Its fine, your not a pain and hopefully you wont be clueless if you get reading the newbies section, lots of answers in there for you especially #2 regarding court claims and how to deal with them.

You mean you have just acknowledged the claim which does indeed give you extra time to prepare your defence (hint: read CEL defence threads)

    CEL =Civil enforcement= parking scammer!!

I filled out the AOS as per Waamo post further up. It states it gives me a further 14 days to gather evidence etc and lets them know I intend to defend myself?

I have had a read through but lots of Acronyms and statements which I dont understand if I am honest. I will read through the court section though.
I think i am going to go to the pub in question tonight, speak with the manager and see what he says. Anything I can say to him to sort of push him in the right direction as he says its out of their hands now, nothing they can do.

Ok well done, you have made a start, NOW is the time because you have some time to start reading more about the game you are in, the regulars are great at advising people what/how to defend these PCN,s what they don't like is repetitive questions that are and have been answered a 1000 times before.

So take a breath, commit some time to reading everything to do with CEL, in particular defence threads, you WILL learn how to deal with it and in the end be pleased you put the effort in.

A letter stating they do not want CEL to proceed would be useful but sadly the court process lumbers on at this point. Unless CEL drop it then there is little anyone can do other than follow the process.

He can ask them to drop it but they can refuse. A letter to the court saying the principal (the pub) doesn't want this case to continue will be a powerful tool but not necessarily a killer blow.

The Newbies thread is long and will take a few days to read and digest so don't overwhelm yourself. You have 2 weeks now. The acronyms are explained later on in it.

    Don't rush. Read and digest.

I think i am going to go to the pub in question tonight,

Before you go there, Acknowledge the Claim and start putting together a defence. Part of your defence will be that you gave the pub the details ....
you give your reg number and they write it down and that stops you getting a ticket. I did this.

Ask the manager to confirm if a) they did this and b) if they didn't why not and c) will the pub give you a letter saying you were a genuine customer on the day. Will go a long way to sorting this if the pub say it is out of their hands. Writing a letter saying you are a customer is not out of their hands.

Thank you, much appreciated. Will spend some time reading through it all.
I will try get a letter from the pub itself and signed to state i was a genuine customer etc, but if not, I will see what other evidence I can gather about unclear signage etc.
