  • Most Fire Services do this, check out your local services' web site and you can usually find a referral link or a freephone number.
MSE newbie and loving every minute :j
  • I took up this offer when i moved into my current house.

I have to say they were brilliant, installed 2 smoke alarms (1 on each level of the house) and then they walked around my house with me, showed me the best exits if my route was blocked and pointed out any safety risks.

After having a house fire at my previous house, i have a real bee in my bonnet about fire safety, and i got the fire service to visit all my friends and relatives.

I really do recommend that if you havent already done so, please get in touch with your local fire service, and get smoke alarms fitted, they do save lives.

I can whole heartedly recommend this , a freebie that could save your life. Smoke alarms are so important . Make sure you get some and test the ones you have on a regular basis. If you can't find a number on your local fire service website then ring your local fire station they will probably be able to give you a number to call.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A
  • I can confirm this is correct, I work for a Fire and Rescue Service and all Services should offer this service. There is normally a freephone number on the website for your home County.
  • There is also a phone number and if you are on medication that makes you sleep and you fall asleep smoking they will give you a free bedding pack with quilt, pillows, throw, blanket, pillow cases, quilt cover in. The number for the northwest ie liverpool/ wirral 0800 731 5958 assume it's the same for the whole country not free from some mobiles like o2
